God I hate those robocalls. In the last election I figured I was safe since I'm registered as non-partisan and every election before I was ignored which suited me just fine. This time I was wrong. Both sides bombarded me which pissed me off since there was no way I was voting for either major party.

By election day 2010 the country and the planet will be well into a recovery. Repubs wont have an issue to run on and their attempt to move even further right will result in even more lost ground in congress. Setting the stage for a disastrous Palin run in 2012 which should be the final nail in the coffin for the party, fiscal conservatives will split off from the religious right whackjobs and the 21st century will see its first new political party in 2013. Funny how it is that the same people that claim it is unfair that 76% of all taxes are paid by the wealthiest 5% (or whatever it is), then turn around and say "he's spending a trillion dollars of your money". Surely he is spending only a few dollars of most readers money (or less), almost all the funding for government spending comes for the very rich (as they pointed out earlier).

Oregon made political robocalling illegal a couple of years ago. I think that's a step in the right direction.

The GOP could be doomed for decades to come. They've been holding fast against changing demographics that do not work in their favor. They managed to squeeze out a couple of very close callsin Presidential elections thanks to hard work by GOPers like Katherine Harris and Ken Blackwell. The Obama margin of victory was simply too much to be overcome this time around - and yes, the same patterns of voter disenfranchisement and EVote shenanigans in GOP controlled areas showed up in 08, it's just not that newsworthy because Obama won.

And now the Democrats are in control of the FEC, of the Census - and of Congress. All of the hard work that the Republicans have done in order to minimize the voices of minority and Democrat leaning voters is about to be undone. They will have to compete on a level playing field. They lost big on their rigged field, how's it going to work out for them next time?

Short of staging a "terrorist" event, I don't see how the GOP can pull out of this tailspin anytime soon. You think they're butthurt now? Just wait.
