Since he got his Faux show, he's been like an unmedicated schizophreniac. He almost makes most of the other Fauxers look sane-and that takes some doing.
"Look into my eyes"...

Actually...did Faux bring him onboard so the others appear more sane? Sounds Murdock-y.

True, but he was on the same network as Nancy Grace, and you can't outcrazy Nancy. She is the singularity of craziness.

What's funny about that is that in that kind of war, the U.S. Government would obviously have tanks and traditional weapons at their disposal, so the Bubbas would have to resort to using roadside bombs and other turrrist technology.

Beck is a douche. He has to fill airtime with something. I caught part of his show today on Fox and he said some of the most retarded things I've ever heard. I can't believe that he is as popular as he is.

patrick767 [TotalFark] 2009-02-21 02:21:50 AM
Glenn Beck is dumber than a crack addled, alcoholic monkey with Downs syndrome. The fact that he's a very wealthy commentator is an embarrassment to America.

robmilmel: Since he got his Faux show, he's been like an unmedicated schizophreniac. He almost makes most of the other Fauxers look sane-and that takes some doing.

CNN destroyed what credibility they had left when they gave him a show. At least he's on Fox where he belongs now.

Well, given that the GOP is little more than a regional Southern party, I guess this doesn't surprise me.

In case they didn't get the memo, the North won the last time around.

I love listening to these nutjobs and how they twist words to get their audience feeling the emotions they want them to feel.

This nutjob describes "The Bubba Effect" where a rancher sees somebody "crossing the border" (start to stir up xenophobia) who then "protects his land" (not shoots an innocent), after which the people will point the finger at the government for "not protecting us" (against an unarmed person trying for a better life).

There's so much money and power to be had in fearmongering it disgusts me.

What many people fail to grasp is the large amount of "Bubbas" in the US Military who swore to protect and defend the Constitution... not the government. We are taught to obey orders to a point, but our primary loyalty is to be to the Constitution, and not any government official.

Taking this statement off the deep end to explore the scenario- Should martial law ever be declared (God forbid) over something like this, the military would no doubt be split between those who are blindly following orders to illegally (can't use troops as police) oppress the citizens and confiscate weapons (ie-New Orleans), and those who resist those orders to keep faith with their oath to protect the Constitution. The nation would truly be divided at all levels. A tank driver, or pilot shooting citizens would only serve to legitimize any revolt... and would do more harm than good in stopping one.

Regardless of your beliefs, such a scenario is a frightening one indeed, and I hope we can all hold onto our sanity, and fix things at the polls. Just don't forget that Washington, Jefferson, Paine, Franklin, Adams, etc were all Bubbas. :-)

Yes. We can always trust those trained by the military to do what's constitutional.

Rent this movie!!!!

The Second Civil War(1997) R

When a planeload of Pakistani orphans are shipped to his state for permanent relocation, the governor of Idaho (Beau Bridges, who won an Emmy) defies the president (Phil Hartman) and closes the state's border. News Net Television, a cable news program that makes hay by reporting on political scandals, quickly spins the racist act into an overnight media sensation, creating a divide in national opinion over the issue. Mac Ahlberg directs.

Dude, you totally missed the other HALF of my post- the military would be split between those protecting the Constitution and those violating it. The military would not be an effective tool to use in quelling the American people.

Naw, I just concentrated on the part I wanted to concentrate on.

But, since you mention it...

The other side wouldn't be protecting the constitution. They'd be protecting their own ideals, whatever they'd happen to be. If they're racists, they'd gun down the races they don't like. If homophobes, they'd gun down anyone they thought was gay. If they didn't like babies, they wouldn't eat as many, or at least smother them with sausage gravy.

The "real" military would be organized as a unit with a command structure. Everyone else would be chaotic individuals and small cells, at best, likely killing each other over food and ammunition.

Just... This is so wrong.

They were all educated, wealthy land-owners. Well-read, well-spoken, intelligent and erudite. Even the "obnoxious and disliked" John Adams was a respected Harvard graduate.

A far cry from the ignorant-and-proud-of-it redneck "Bubbas" so lionized by the American right.

The people in the Confederacy fought and died to defend a way of life. . . that was built on slavery.

Which "state's rights" did the Confederacy attempt to defend?

Your teacher must have never read the articles of secession, or the Confederate constitution. Those documents argued AGAINST state's rights, and IN SUPPORT OF a national government that protected slavery.
