If it's not Guitar, Bass, Keyboard, Vocals, and Drums, it's not Rock. As soon as you add stuff to that, it becomes Progressive Rock.

Far too much sax and violins in music today.

Well, the sax can only improve their shiat music.

I thought if it had keyboards it was automatically progressive rock.

I can live with that definition. Let's go with it.

Tr0mBoNe doesn't give a damn about any trumpet playing band. It ain't what he calls rock and roll.

So Bob Seger and Bruce Springsteen dabbled in progressive rock?

brookgo 2009-02-19 09:08:16 PM
No keyboards no problem.

Haha. Actually, I like a few bands that have keys and/or sax that definitely are rock. The Clash, Turbonegro, Reel Big Fish. There's probably more, just can't really think of them right now.

I've heard some of Bruce's early lyrics compared to Yes', in a manner like "he must have been smoking whatever Jon and Steve were when they wrote their lyrics."

Tr0mBoNe doesn't mind if he doesn't make the scene.
He's got a daytime job, he's doing alright.

He should be more worried about adding too much trying to be Bruce Springsteen to his albums.

King Curtis (new window) would like a word with you, and if you take back what you said, I won't tell Clarence Clemmons.

It's a good album. If you refuse to listen to it because of a few seconds of saxophone, your loss.

You're joking, right? There was a time when almost all "rock" bands had a sax in the lineup.

CPennypacker [TotalFark] 2009-02-20 12:38:41 PM
Uh-oh, the killers are popular and their lead singer said something. Let's start hating!

In all seriousness he may be the least douchey music celebrity. He doesn't flap his yapper about politics despite not knowing anything about it and he's nice to and respects his fans. What an ass.

Philbigtime 2009-02-20 02:23:27 PM
What the fark is wrong with the sax? It's pretty much the coolest instrument right behind guitar.

Yeah, what's up with that?
You just got to find the right man to play it right
Get a old saxophone and find that man that can play the sexy tones

Apparently you've never heard of the cello. Fark the sax.

I haven't liked anything of theirs since Samstown. The lyrics have gone from "trite" to "dance pop trite".

They... They've only had one studio album since Sam's Town.

The sax was the lead instrument in rock for over a decade before the electric guitar took it's place.
