See, Feinstein didn't say anything that wasn't already public knowledge.

These are not the drones you're looking for.

They're also patrolling the USA-Canada border along the praries.

Just because something can be externally supported by other evidence after a leak doesn't mean the leak was not harmful. See: Plame, Valerie.

What's going to really freak people out is when we realize that while we THOUGHT we were just playing ace combat on xbox live, we were actually controlling predators that were dropping bombs in afghanistan....

I think Wired is wrong. If you compare the planes/drones pointed at in the picture to the vehicles parked outside the hangers, those things look larger than I think the Predators are.

Not saying Predators aren't in Pakistan, I would assume they are. Just looks to me like that's a picture of Global Hawks.

It doesn't really make sense to have global hawks there.

They fly high enough and far enough there is no reason to base them there. Don't look like they are small eneough to be predators to me, but wouldn;t put un money on it.

If I put a saddle on one a rode it like a horsey would it still be considered an "unmanned" aerial vehicle?

Read Wired for War by P.W. Singer to learn much more about these drones and other UAVs and robots.

Fascinating stuff.

I hereby call for Google Earth's security clearance to be revoked. Clearly, Rep. Earth is leaking national secrets to make political hay and possibly financial profit. This reflects badly on Earth's entire party, including the Obama administration.

Am I doing it right, Independents TM?

DarnoKonrad: Weather balloons.

You know, now that Google Earth is obviously being used like this, the military should do like they did in WWII before the invasion of Normandy and have tons of fake balloon planes all over the place. Someone will pull up google earth and it'll look like a major invasion is about to go down.

Hopefully, it'll prompt the enemy to want to attack that base, which recent history is showing is a poor decison on their part.

Note: Remotely controlled = Not a Robot.

The things in that show Robot Wars... not robots. They were remote controlled cars with weapons and armor.

Question: If it doesn't carry anyone, is it vehicle? Trains, cars, boats and planes carry passengers. Is my RC car a vehicle just because it is a machine that moves around? Hmm.

spartywrx 2009-02-19 04:00:39 PM
I don't understand why people are up in arms about this. The crazies are now in Pakistan. Pakistan has given us permission to do this, we have bases there. OBL and his merry gang are not dead or captured yet. Why do people want to totally pull out of the area? Even Obama agrees with me (or more like I agree with him)

/And for the record, we should have never went to Iraq.
//End that stupid debacle

spartywrx 2009-02-19 04:02:55 PM
HotWingConspiracy: It's not terrorism when we do it.

Ummm....I'm pretty sure Pakistan has given us some sort of secret permission if we're flying our planes out of their freaking air fields. You would think that they would notice that we've taken over one of their bases and are shipping supplies to it regularly

Yeah, I came here to say that. They look to be the bigger brother of the Predator - the ones that are three times as fast and carry lots of missiles (aka the fun ones). Although it all depends on scale, I was guessing based upon the size of the hanger and runway which could be a number of sizes, really.
