I'm sure that getting kicked out in Hong Kong definitely left him with a new sensation...

his fate still an improvement over the first singer.

I came here to say that but I figured I would be too late.

He didn't impress me at all the entire season. There was a couple of other guys that were ALOT better than he was that would've done ALOT better than he did. But yet they picked him....ummm...I mean.

Who watches stupid shows like Rockstar:INXS? Gah....

Valdes 2009-02-18 04:31:34 PM
The real problem is that he was CANADIAN. Clearly Canadians aren't as talented as Australians. He never really had a chance, that poor stupid, genetically deficient, musically hollow soul.

choked up? damn.

That was pretty cool how he blamed being a ROCKSTAR for his drug addiction.

Tailormadebassist:

He was the best Michael Hutchence impersonator on the show, which was obviously what they were looking for. Marty sounded really good doing his original song and one INXS song (Don't Change?) and some of the others were good/ok/possilby better than JD, but did have the vocal presence in Hutchence's range to pull off the old jams. (Not that I watched or that it made an impression on me.)

Australia? What else was shat out of there in 40 years, apart from AC/DC, Midnight Oil and Silverchair?

LIKE MARTY CASEY?!?!? Yeah... Just a little bitter.

SnatchTease 2009-02-18 08:52:18 PM
They should have picked Marty, who amusingly enough is doing better off than INXS.

I agree with you. But still....yeah. Marty Casey. Yeah. Better. Like. OMG! and stuff. Dang my wife for getting me into that....

Malevolent Teaparty: FOR REAL!

Ok...I feel really gay now. NTTAWWT. You know.

Poor guy, I'd want to hang myself after that...

mud_shark 2009-02-18 11:23:07 PM
He'd been clean for 2 years and was with them for 1 month shy of 2 years?

And he didn't have any money? What were they paying him with, aging groupies who are 20 years past their prime?

Then again, I can't imagine INXS playing anything larger than a dive bar and he wouldn't get any royalties from their hits 20+ years ago.

I don't really care - just surprised they're still a band....

GungFu 2009-02-18 11:34:28 PM

Yeah, I watched Rockstar:INXS, I liked their music when is was new, and thought it aged well. I thought J.D. was a showboating jerk with barely negligble talent.
But realized after the show/contest was over, that what they (the surviving band members) wanted was the least personality in a new singer, so as to be able to 'mould' the blank into whatever they needed. That being said, he fit the bill perfectly!

my ex-girlfriend was on that show i think? glad she didn't win.
