I bought one Ben Folds CD, only liked the radio single off of it, "Landing". I was very disappointed because whenever I see clips of his music on the internet, I always like it.

So basically I like everything I've heard of his except for the stuff I paid money to listen to.

Even if I didn't like Ben Folds, I'd have to side with him based on the other guy's use of the non-word "prolly." That and "holla" make me all manner of stabby.

The non-word "stabby" on the other hand, is delightful, and says exactly what I want it to say.

You forgot "sings out of tune". *Very* out of tune.

Still, he's written my favourite tune about abortion ("Brick").

My second favourite tune about abortion is "The Heart Of Rock And Roll" by Huey Lewis and the News.

Saw him when he was touring the Ben Folds Live album in 2002 (I think). Great show, great crowd, and Shatner made a cameo.

Ben Folds is great at pissing off musicians with no talent, such as Jonathan Davis.

Can someone do a summary for me? I think I had a few too many beers.

Though I doubt I was the first, I cropped that song down to the famous refrain and assigned the ringtone to a particularly nasty ex-girlfriend. It would go off in the store, but just as soon as I felt like I had no manners, about 12 people would compliment it. Of course, all I had to do was piss off every senior citizen in the room. And when you cruise the bingo nights as often as I do, that's no way to get the sugar to pour.

/Ben Folds live is an experience. How often do you actually say to yourself, "Damn if I didn't get my money's worth!"?

Stars are an Amazing band with a great live show

unfortunately, i couldn't agree with you more. i'm a lifelong fan, even through the rough patches (see: rocking the suburbs), but "songs for silverman" (from 2005) was an incredible record. every track on there is a winner. "landed" is an excellent example of his songwriting gifts.

i had a lot of hope when i went to pick up "way to normal", last years offering, but i have to say i was let down. the single with regina spektor is a good listen, but too much of the album is random nonsense. his usual melody, humor and great choruses must have taken the day off.

i always thought "divorce records" were supposed to be great?

here's hoping his next one will be. we miss ya ben.

Eh, any prolific artist will release the occasional mediocre album. "Way to Normal" has a couple of decent tracks, but overall it feels overproduced and biatchy. I'm guessing that Aussie chick put him in a bitter-but-not-funny place, although the fact that he got remarried six months later makes me think Bennie's got a bit of a problem keeping it in his pants.

Ha! Farking this or very close to it. I've bought a couple Ben Folds Five CDs and only really enjoyed a couple tracks from each. Ben Folds is one of those groups that I can listen to and think, "Wow, these guys are talented as hell, but I don't like this song."

You're unfamiliar with Chapel Hill hipsters. They hated him from the beginning. The only love he got in Chapel Hill was from the non-hipster college folks, and that didn't happen until after he was known nationally.

Rocking the Suburbs was a fine album, and that tour was amazing.

Not his best songwriting, but the production is great, the mix is great, and he played most of the instruments, which is notable.

Plus, the EP that came with it had "Hiro's Song" on it, and that song is very, very, very good.
