I wonder if Colin can get to sleep, thinking about the implications.

I'd say that's overkill.

He doesn't just want to kill him, he wants to OVERKILL him.

Hitting that this early in the thread is just diving in too deep.

Colin Hay was wonderful on Scrubs.

Perfect song!

FTFA: Strykert left the band in 1985

That's a little like saying that Yoko Ono "left" John Lennon in 2006.

Midnight Rambler 2009-02-17 05:38:44 PM
I remember reading years ago that this guy sort of went off the deep end.

From the wiki: "In the late 1980's, Strykert became a member of the Church Universal and Triumphant, a Montana religious sect but currently is not living with the Church."

zvoidx 2009-02-17 05:41:20 PM
So, will he have a "Safety Dance"?

oh, wait...
FAIL!

Just offer him a Vegemite sandwich.

barneyfifesbullet 2009-02-17 06:13:42 PM
Colin Hay supposedly used the guy's royalties to pay for Colin Hay's useless solo record.

That is a lame thing to do to a guy. Even if he is batshiat crazy.

bluesbox: Just offer him a Vegemite sandwich.

Unless you're in Australia, that by itself might qualify as a criminal threat.

Yes. Colin Hay was forced to run and take cover.

Guitarist was knocking on his door saying "a yo yo". Singer couldn't understand that the problem was, because he was finding it hard enough dealing with his own biz.

Sounds like someone has a Heckyll and Jive complex.

Does anyone remember an interview with MaW up in a tree?

carmody 2009-02-17 07:29:14 PM
Last I heard, the guitarist (Ron Strykert) had turned into some type of religious zealot with his own compound.

Godzilla [TotalFark] 2009-02-17 08:16:32 PM
Yeah, carmody, he was into some weird new agey thing according to VH1's Where are They Now, if I recall. They interviewed him and he was rambling about spirituality.

Oh well. At least there's still life at all in Colin Hay with this crazy guy out there. The guy was actually a good, melodic guitarist.

Dick move on Hay's part if it's true though.

I guess lesson learned is don't loan or borrow $400k!

Did they catch him down by the sea?

Can there be two more has-been guys to write about? What's next? Milli Vanilli "singer" flicks other Milli Vanilli "singer's" nuts?

This is why we have lawyers. They are more effective in legal matters than religious gurus.

I thought all these songs were on Cargo.

Only if it's either from beyond the grave or legally considered necrophilia, depending on who's pitching and who's catching.

Half of one songwriting credit out of the six Men at Work songs I can name, which he shared with Colin Hay, who wrote all five of the others by himself?

I guess he believes the underdog will eventually survive.

I really don't want to hear about their hard luck story.

I like Vegimite. It is great on whole wheat toast after a night out drinking.

Just speaking from personal opinion, it seems like so many of my favorite bands tore apart due to the buisness side of "the biz."
It's sad how such great music gets cut short because somebody feels like they got shorted.

I learned how to play drums (almost) exclusively by playing along with Jerry Speiser on those first 2 albums (and what an underrated drummer he is,)
and to this day Men at work's music is still fresh and inspiring (to me.)

Sad that things went down this way.

hamsack 2009-02-18 12:22:20 PM
Was it because he couldn't deliver the cargo?
