I found the article under most popular, "Report: Elk Has Bar Stool Stuck On Head" (new window) much more interesting.

This fool-the-bad-guy-with-a-warrant thing happens so much I wonder why anyone's surprised it still works anymore.

Funny, I thought "Steak and BJ Day" was in March. Better let my wife know.

Breaking News! It has been discovered that people who often commit crimes are generally not intelligent!

At least it wasn't a land shark.

FTFY. Big crimes require bright people. I'm sure Bernie Madoff would agree. Or the folks who managed to swipe $9,000,000 using forged ATM cards worldwide, within a single 30 minute window.

These chuckleheads are low-hanging fruit, and this crud is just silly.

Sure, you might get a couple with flowers and candy, but a free boat is how you get the big fish.

Your profile indicates you are a woman of the female persuasion. Therefore, I am obligated to ask: How YOU doin'?

Got a reference on that ATM scam? I am curious how it turned out, if they got caught, etc?

I'm a sucker for tales of extreme crime. There are actually three crimes that have occurred which I still wonder what really happened - to the best of my knowledge, they all remain unsolved:

1. What I heard was that an armored car was transporting money on the highway, and it had pulled off at a rest stop. Somebody got on top of the truck, and as it was flying down the highway, the individual cut a hole in the roof, stole a wad of money (it was a pretty large amount), and when the truck stopped again at a different rest stop, the person jumped off and got away. The armored truck drivers/guards didn't find out they had been robbed until they got to their delivery point.

2. Robert William Fisher - http://phoenix.about.com/cs/crime/a/figher01.htm - wanted by the FBI, he is wanted for the killing of wife and children in his Scottsdale home. However, if you read everything about this story, it really makes you wonder if he really did it, or if someone framed him (for what reason is anyone's guess) and he went into hiding (or was kidnapped and killed later).

3. What I am going to call the "Arizona Canal Murders" - basically, there was someone who was grabbing women, raping them, killing them, then cutting off their hands, feet, and head and dumping the body into SRP's Arizona Canal, which cuts diagonally across Phoenix (incidentally, it pass by the Metro Center Mall here, which was near where most of the bodies were found). The other body parts were never recovered, and I don't think any of the bodies were identified. Then the killings just stopped (guy died? went to jail?).

They got wise to the 'free boat' trick.
