I just want some NEW music to listen to. I have everything Megadeth has put out and I farking love them. My disdain is not for Megadeth, but for the fact that they've been featured here before and I like to use SHMHC to find new stuff. Looking at the queue of SHMHC submissions, there were a few that I would have preferred get a greenlight instead of Megadeth.

Blackstone Cherry's new album is pretty good. I'm not sure this TBG's submission? The first one was redlit.

That being said, I'd like to nail Dave Mustaine to the farking wall. He's kinda cute.

I submitted this based solely on the fact that I was playing guitar with the album this morning, and said to myself "this song rocks..video rocks.. must submit."

Well, I'm quite picky with what I listen to, and I can't find much "new" music worth listening to.. so even though it isn't exactly metal, try out some Mindless Self Indulgence. Totally nutso, but soooo worth it.

I found out last week that asking in these threads yields some decent results, be as specific as you can.

New stuff? All you had to do was ask:

Attomica - Deathraiser

Annihilator - Alison Hell

Coroner - Die by My Hand

Dew Scented - That's why I Despise You.

Apologies if you've seen all of these before, but I too look forward to the SHMHC to find new stuff so I feel your pain. Hopefully this helps someone.

Municipal Waste feature Dave Witte on the drums (formally with discordance axis, still with Burnt By The Sun.) This guy is a great drummer.

And after a ton of crap since Youthanasia, Megadave's last album is pretty decent.

Dude, Im excited as hell to see them open for lamb of god in april. They may be the first newer band from the last couple years that made me go OH HELL YEAH when I heard them and got the albums. even though the music is pretty similar to old thrash..well.. thats the stuff that gets me going.

BTW i was impressed as hell when I checked some live footage and seen the drummer playing a single bass drum. Thats some quality drummin's.

Been on a Megadeth kick lately, so this made me happy. I love the main riff of the song.

I don't think anyone will be happy with anything submitted on SHMH. It'll either be too mainstream, not metal enough, or too cookie monster. Always remember Power Metal sucks too. You have bad taste in music. You ALWAYS have bad taste in music.

Ehh..you don't like it, don't listen to it. I guess some people just have to biatch about something to make themselves feel better. I know I do sometimes.

The last three SHMHC's have brought me three of my favorite albums in years:

Turisas - The Vargarian Way
Gojira - The Way of All Flesh
Cynic - Traced in Air

I'm holding out hope that this week will bring similar results. Don't let me down farkers.

I've seen Megadeth live a few times; the first was for this album, on the "Clash of the Titans" tour with AIC, Anthrax, and Slayer.

Megadeth OWNED this tour. The "Rust in Peace" Megadeth lineup is hands-down the TIGHTEST live band I've ever seen, PERIOD.

SHMHC, like a lot of people have said today, is definitely a good way to hear about new metal bands, but there's nothing wrong with acknowledging the "classics" every once in a while.

Thanks, subby!

/MEGADETH FTW!

How bout' some Norwegian Black Metal to wake you up on Sunday?
Link

Or how about some Suicide Silence Link

Finally, a dose of classic Slayer Link

seveword 2009-02-15 03:55:34 PM
So is this where I post youtube links to random metal songs?

Rotting Christ-Sanctus Diavolos. Greek gothic black metal

High on Fire-Rumors of War. Motorhead by way of Slayer

ISIS-Grinning Mouths. Slow, atmospheric, but heavy as anything you can imagine

Scar Symmetry-Morphogenesis. A metal blog I frequent refers to them as "Death Jovi"

Strapping Young Lad-Love?. So now Canada has SYL, bacon, and...what else going for it?

Vader-"Helleluyah (God Is Dead)". Good old death metal. If it ain't about death, it's probably about Satan

Megadeth is pretty good...but wouldn't you rather hear something new? Oh, and if you don't like any of those picks, please, feel free to biatch about it here :)

I thought Life Of Agony was the opening act on that tour. Seems kind of retard to have a grunge band open for a tour featuring 3 or the 4 horsemen of thrash. Also wouldn't slayer fans have stormed the stage and killed AIC?

Dissection - Black Dragon. Black metal with a groove.

I'm staunchly anti-cookie monster (Amon Amarth being one of two exceptions), but I find this song and its album ride right along the edge of "extreme" and listenable vocals. Oh, and love the guitar work and drumming, natch.

You've done well, my son.
Mustaine/Ellefson/Freidman/Menza is tough to beat in metal world.
Too bad Dave still won't admit to it.

I can't remember when it was but a couple weeks ago, in one of these threads, a farker mentioned "Protest the Hero" and I have to say that they've been in constant rotation since I saw the video for the song he linked.

Some thrash in the SHMHC eh? Well, here's some new thrash that is starting to pick up steam and will no doubt hit big if this thrash revival continues.
Lich King - "Attack of the Wrath of the War of the Death of the Strike of the Sword of the Blood of the Beast" (new window)
Their latest album, Toxic Zombie Holocaust is damn fine party-mosh music much in the same vein of classic Anthrax and in my opinion is a must have for any thrash lover.
Lich King Line-Up:
A farking Tyrannosaur - Vocals
Rambo - Lead Guitar
The Hulk - Rhythm Guitar
Darth Vader - Bass
Hulk Hogan - Drums

All three of those albums are frigging fantabulous, especially the Turisas album, especially the Director's Cut with 'Rasputin' on it.

There have been some excellent suggestions this week. I've been digging the new TrollfesT, Grailknights, God Forbid, and Lamb Of God albums, as well as some Opeth and SikTh. I also hear Amorphis is working on their new album, which will be awesome.

Immolation - Father, You're Not A Father
Kreator - Pleasure to Kill
Bicyklothorturerere - Raining Bikes

Obituary - Slowly We Rot

Morbid Angel - Immortal Rites

So another sunday it is, maybe i can stir up some more fights with my anti-Slipknot fans (or all of fark really). If anyone else out there knows what i'm talking about, I went to the show and it was amazing. I've been to a lot of shows and Slipknot easily tops the list. Every note was on, every drumbeat was hit (you could hear the percussionists better live than on their albums), and i had a great time so eat it haters.

groverXIII 2009-02-15 10:50:04 PM
Admittedly, it's been 7 or 8 years since I saw Slipknot (Pledge of Allegiance tour), but I thought they were very overrated live. The percussionists spent most of the show doing backup vocals or wandering around, and musically they weren't especially impressive.

Then again, I always thought they were kinda gimmicky anyway. The new album was decent, but I don't see why they need 9 people. They could achieve the same effect with 3 people and a sequencer.

I've probably seen many $5 shows that were better. Saviours, PG.99, Jack Sabbath (yes, a coverband) were all way more enjoyable than ANY show i've seen in a stadium or amplitheater. I saw Cave-In back when they were still touring for Until Your Heart Stops, f-ing awesome.

Thank you. I've just realized that I've gone through many of these threads without even once mentioning one of my favorite bands ever: Sear Bliss. They are an atmospheric black metal band from Hungary. They utilize uncoventional (at least in metal) instruments such as french horns. They also insert gutair solos that sound like they could be from a classic rock/blues band.
