Cool. I live near Boston, so I never got to see them live.

The actors commentary track on the DVD makes the movie even funnier.

As long as it's recorded in Doubley.

IMO, the funniest movie of all time, considering the commentary track and the deleted scenes.

Quick question: What's the difference between the Criterion version, which is LOOOOONG OOP, and the current version?

The best way to remove the sand is with a bottle brush and plenty of water.

The bigger the cushion, the sweeter the pushin'
That's what I said
The looser the waistband, the deeper the quicksand
Or so I have read

My baby fits me like a flesh tuxedo
I'd like to sink her with my pink torpedo

Big bottom, big bottom
Talk about bum cakes, my girl's got 'em
Big bottom drive me out of my mind
How could I leave this behind?

I met her on Monday, 'twas my lucky bun day
You know what I mean
I love her each weekday, each velvety cheek day
You know what I mean

My love gun's loaded and she's in my sights
Big game is waiting there inside her tights, yeah

Big bottom, big bottom
Talk about mud flaps, my girl's got 'em
Big bottom drive me out of my mind
How could I leave this behind?

My baby fits me like a flesh tuxedo
I'd like to sink her with my pink torpedo

Big bottom, big bottom
Talk about bum cakes, my girl's got 'em
Big bottom drive me out of my mind
How could I leave this behind?

the_wanderer: Quick question: What's the difference between the Criterion version, which is LOOOOONG OOP, and the current version?

What is OOP? Anyways, I thikn the difference is the Criterian version is just the actors doing a commentary about the movie. The regular DVD is the actors doing the commentary *in character*, talking about it like it was a real documentary. The 'explain' the backstories of certain scenes, talk about how the director (Marty DiBergi) screwed them by intentionally making them look horrible, and stuff like that. It's like another entire movie and its absolutely hilarious.

[END QUOTE]

A speaker that is driven too hard with a clean signal could overheat and fail.

An over-driven speaker may have its cone distorted, which could eventually fail due to fatigue. Your over-driven speaker might even exceed its travel limits and rip its surrounds, but I've only seen that sort of thing happen a few times.

Overloading your amplifier is a much more common cause of problems. When you turn up the volume knob, you expect the sine waves to get taller. This is what happens until your amplifier runs out of power. Then, the nice round sine wave is truncated with a very narrow spike followed by a horizontal line that approximates the maximum DC voltage output of the amplifier. The sine wave has been "clipped." These sharp-edged squared-off waves cause very high induced currents in your speaker's voice coils and burn them out.

If you hear clipping distortion when you turn up the volume, you should turn it back down to avoid damage to your sound system and your hearing.

Use your speakers responsibly.

After you get the stick out of your butt and finish checking for extraneous internal organs, you might consider poking it in your eyes so as not to have to suffer the horrors of any further commentary on a truly hilarious movie - perfectly appropriate as an example of what the rest of us call "standards".

Also, I think the dvd commentary is even funnier than the actual movie.
