It's entertaining, and through the course of an entire hockey game, I can understand its appeal, but all together in one awful collection is too much. The only thing worse is listening to a non-stop string of Yankees homerun calls on the yes network.

his calls would make sense if he was relating them to what actually happened, like Mike Lange did.
EX: a player beats the goalie to the puck and scores, so the player "beat [the goalie] like a rented mule." or a rent-a-car, or a red-headed stepchild, what have you.

Or if he did what Rick Jeanneret does and relate the calls to the players' names.
EX: "Mayday" = what planes say in distress
After Brad May scores = "Mayday" for the other team

He's just taking funny lines from movies and saying them randomly. Since the lines have nothing to do with the game, most listeners laugh, or they recognize the line.

Foley and Tallon together were hilarious. I still remember the infamous "wee knee" where Pat was laughing so hard it was basically a minute of dead air while you listened to Pat laughing his ass off in the background -- I think Pat had turned his mic off but Dale had not.

If Dale wasn't doing such a good job as GM I'd be pissed he wasn't still an announcer.
