I agree - the Reagan thing was started almost immediately after he died, though. Even the most partisan hero-worshiper wouldn't ever suggest putting a living President on money. It's stupid to propose a license plate featuring Obama (although it might make good sense in a "let's get some cash flow going" sense)

The Reagan thing is also stupid because in order to make it happen, they would have to overturn what Reagan supported. "You're so awesome, we are going to work to undo something you did"

I personally think the appropriate Reagan denomination should have the highest inflation conceivable, be printed with a lead based ink, and small enough that you always forget where you left it. A fitting tribute to our nation's first senile-American President and his own economic tribute to our nation, which is coming to a head even now.

At least in this case, while I know I would not purchase such an item (I don't even live in Illinois, but if I did...) at least I'd have a choice in the matter. Reagan on the ten dollar bill? That's a lot harder to circumvent if it were to happen and I do completely disagree with the idea.

OK, that's fair enough. What I was doing was a sort of preemptive strike...stating that Obama is not unique in having silly admirers jump the gun on immortalizing him. It was an attempt to say "criticize this, for sure, because it's stupid, but don't get too cocky, because it's not unique - and here's an example of some other stupid shiat."

I disagree with any political figure on the currency (or anything created by the government for that matter). Even George Washington noted that presidential pictures on money was a trademark of monarchial governments.
