It doesn't say anywhere in that article that it was a secret. There's even a passing reference to it being from a Washington Post article. Spare your outrage, tards.

Gun owners have been calling here that for years. Nice to see that she is having trouble holding in all the stupid and it is starting to leak elsewhere.

First the really shoddily written broadband amendment that would have killed net neutrality, now this? Californians need to give her her walking papers before she hurr-durrs herself any further.

I'm as liberal as the next guy but we can do better than this, folks.

The F-117 was "known" to exist in some form or another for years. However, it wasn't "officially" acknowledged to exist until 1989 IIRC.

This base may or may not have been secret, however, when in doubt about issues like that, STFU until you can find out for sure.

It's at this point in time that I'd like to remind everyone that most people living in California aren't from California. CA is the receptacle tip for every other state's stupidity.

Diogenes [TotalFark] 2009-02-13 10:02:57 AM
Wow. I said yesterday she should just retire. Now I'm thinking she should be charged or something. She needs to lose her chair and membership in the Senate Intelligence Committee, at minimum.

DeadZone: is she trying to break Jimmie Carter's "Israel's nukes" level of stupid on purpose?

I was going to say, half tounge in cheek, that this was as well kept a secret as Israel's nuclear arsenal, and therefore not a big deal.

What did Carter say and why was it stupid?

FFS, never let facts and reality get in the way of impotent rage. Not that I find her to be that great of a Senator. But I'd imagine there are much better things to be annoyed at with her. See net neutrality.

Carth 2009-02-13 10:04:17 AM
Feinstein is an idiot. If anyone in the Intelligence Community had said that with press around they'd pull your clearance and you'd likely be out of a job.

First the net neutrality bill and now this.

Yeah, if the govt hasn't publicly announced it, its a secret.

Even worse is if it isn't true and this coont not being able to keep her facts straight strains relations with Pakistan for no reason.

See net neutrality.fark that. Net Neutrality doesn't get people killed and put our servicemen and women in harm's way. This is 10,000 times worse than that. Even if it was information which was assumed or known by insiders, you can't just put soldiers (ours or pakistanis) at risk by being stupid.

If this was a secret, then she not only lose her clearance but her spot on the committee, and possibly face criminal charges.

If not, then she is merely dumb (not criminally so) for bringing it up in public.

No understanding with US on drone attacks (new window)

How do you manage to type, being that stupid? I am awestruck.

Seems that the stupidity of the republicans for the last 8 years maybe surpassed by the democrats. Although I really doubt that any farkers on the left will ever acknowledge this. Rarely did the farkers on the right admit to the stupidity in the past.

The Democrats could end up pissing away their majority, not due to any corruption or disagreement with policy, but simply because people think they're inept.

That having been said...

but former U.S. intelligence officials, speaking on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the information,

"The information is sensitive, so I don't want anyone to know that I'm confirming this..."

Dick.

Israel as never said it had nukes.

Fark Feinstein. Fark the Washington Post, and fark the tards who are okay with this. Can you imagine this happening during WW2? She needs a good kick in the teeth, and to be tarred and feathered along with the WaPo reporter. Thanks for undermining our troops and ally you stupid coont!

The dems won't be happy until this nation is a smoldering pile of rubble. Feinstein is is just doing her part to help make the liberal dream a reality. I wouldn't be shocked if we end up with a State of the Union address ending with Barry offering nuclear launch codes to the terrorists as a form of appeasement. You dems make me both vomit and weep for my country.

No you weren't. You were playing "F-19 Stealth Fighter". Everybody thought the Stealth was in service in a rounded, scoop-wing airframe. Tom Clancy wrote it up that way in Red Storm Rising. They even made a model kit.

It wasn't until 1988 that they acknowledged it officially and it turned out everybody had guessed wrong.

The point of leaking things is so you don't have to suffer the fallout. What happens now when Pakistan faces internal dissent and forbids the US from using the base anymore.

Hat Madder 2009-02-13 10:19:53 AM
Officially the US wasn't speaking to Syria or Iran during much of the Bush administration, but it was an open secret that there was a lot of communication and cooperation. It's the same as having Predators based in Pakistan without anyone admitting it, those governments wanted to deny they were helping the US. So now a US Senator blabs the information and seriously embarrasses one of out allies.

Good work, dumbass.

Putting on a tinfoil hat, I wonder about the timing of this. The base was a secret for at least months if not years under the previous administration, gets outed within weeks of the new one taking over.

atlanta_ufo 2009-02-13 10:20:32 AM
Apparently, she doesn't understand the sensitivity of the population in Pakistan regarding this. Not a smart comment.

I think it's just pure dumbass-ness on her part. The administration would have absolutely nothing to gain by embarassing Pakistan's government. And there WILL be domestic fallout for them because of this. Guaranteed.

Whoever runs against her next time should hammer this point hard. I think it makes her unfit to serve.
