Even though Jack Ryan may have been corrupt, the whole senate debacle had nothing to do with corruption. Quite possibly he was the only Republican to ever get in trouble for trying to have sex with his wife.

I want to see if he'll actually write a book, or if he'll have an "accident" before anything comes of this.

And yes, all Illinois politicians are corrupt on some level. Hell, my smallish hometown had mayors getting kickbacks.

Well, he's just trying to drag his own party down with him.

In the grand tradition of Illinois politics, he probably assumed they'd back him up and offer party protection. Unfortunately, it would've tarnished the party--and the Obama administration--further. So he's a sacrificial lamb who will probably not face any prison time; heck, he won't even apply for unemployment.

It will interesting to see how this plays out.

Given the situation (caught on tape trying to sell the seat), how can any honest, sane person blame them? Sure I can see why he blames them, but what about an honest, sane person?

Come on. Even a ballet dancer who left a staff job in the Clinton White House to take an $8Million/yr job as an investment banker shouldn't be worried. Especially if he's now the White House Chief of Staff...

But I seriously doubt if the Big Chicago Machine (Version 2.0) will ever let another governor or senator come from south of I-80.

Jack Ryan became president when a plane crashed into the capitol building killing the president and most of congress. Jack Ryan did a helluva job managing that crisis and should be commended for his job, especially when terrorists started using bio-attacks on us.

Jack Ryan laughs at Obama only having to deal with a financial meltdown and two wars.

I hope he sings like a canary. I hope a lot of corrupt politicians get busted and get to spend years in federal PMITA prison.

I hope they'd put cameras in said federal PMITA prison. I hope they'd allow the citizenry the opportunity for pay per view.

I hope it doesn't stop with Illinois corrupt politicians, and that all corrupt politicians get their day in federal PMITA prison.

That might change some politicians thought processes.

Hope and change. This is what I want.

Aside from breaking into the U.S. attorney's office and erasing the tapes of him trying to sell the seat, there wasn't a whole lot the party could do for him.

The trial will be a circus. If he had any sense, he'd plead out.

I'm not a Yank so I haven't followed this, but when i saw him on TV I'd pretty much have to agree that he is batshieat crazy.
