Well maybe I'm the straight-edge America.
I'm not a part of a socialist agenda.
Now everybody do the propaganda.
And sing along in the age of paranoia.

If you drop something heavy on the vocalist, he'll B Flat. Make sure you find A Sharp object as well.

I miss the 90s Green Day. Nonsensical pop-punk that was just fun.

They are pulling a U2 with the last two albums. They got all self-important and their music sounds like it is trying to make a statement.

Not a bad thing, just a departure from what I thought the band was about. I dunno, I just see Billie Joe trying to be more like Bono.

Yeah - I used to love them until they got all political. They still have a good sound, but I don't like anyone to be preachy or political if they are supposed to be entertainers - even when I agree with them. Shut up with the agenda and dance for the audience monkeys...

I second that. It's much better to listen to the same 300 classic rock songs over a 30-year period.

WarpZone 2009-02-10 02:24:16 PM
bah. they are fake people, their songs are popular drivel. what really makes me laugh is that they are still called punk. they are the exact opposite of what punk is supposed to be.

Green Day Sucks

Githerax 2009-02-10 02:26:01 PM
Corvus: American Idiot was a very very good album.

I'm sure that's true, in a certain limited context. Like:

"I listened to a recent popular rap album, and I listened to American Idiot. Compared to the rap album, American Idiot was a very very good album."

or

"For a corporately designed media product designed to sell to a particular heavily marketed demographic, American Idiot was a very very good album."

or

"American Idiot was a very very good album to advertise to children who are barely old enough to assert their self-identity when asked their name, much less when asked to choose music."

LemSkroob 2009-02-10 02:26:02 PM
That LP went on to win Best Rock Album at the 2005 Grammys, while "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" won Record of the Year at the 2006 event. In the time since American Idiot's release, Green Day released the album Stop Drop and Roll!!

I used it in another thread but it works here too.

"Turn that MTV racket off
So your folks can listen to "classic" rock
Mellow out to the same old songs
Again and again and again"

I agree. Until you couldn't turn on the radio without hearing a song from it.

hellbilly 2009-02-10 02:28:41 PM
Green Day = Pay Day. And even though D. Boon said,"Punk is what you make it". Green Day is not punk. They're just an old boy band with different clothes.

Hyatus 2009-02-10 02:29:14 PM
I saw them 10 years ago in concert. Say what you will about their music, they know how to please a crowd. They even set fire to their instruments. Awesome show. I'd love to see how they stack up today.

tombotia [TotalFark] 2009-02-10 02:30:54 PM
Oh, its so funny, I get it, they dislike Green Day...

Little tip, there is no such thing as mass distributed "punk." It just doesn't exist.

And all you little metal-hardcore-death-speed-thriller-whatever people need to get that through your skull. Black long hair, rings all over your body and a tattoo of some bone on your forehead does not a tough guy make.

That said, 90s are over, give it up Green Day. Your shiat is old and recycled.

DaBishop 2009-02-10 02:31:08 PM
Hyatus: They even set fire to their instruments.

Should have seen the Rammstien concert. They set fire to everything, including the lead singer.

Hell, for that matter, go see Great White.

wylkyn 2009-02-10 02:31:14 PM
GoSurfing: pop-punk

Please tell me you made up that term. Pop-punk? It sounds like a contradiction to me. I like Green Day, but they seem about as punk to me as Britney Spears.

Well, since the fark masses hate Green Day, my love for Green Day seems vindicated.
