You know, with the right kind of pen, you can turn. that "F" into a "P".

I think it stands for "Effort". They give them out instead of the "F"s the little darlings deserve.

It's the letter just after D, and just before F.

You guys should be on a corner wearing a sandwich board.

His parents can't spell 'F' which is probably why they chose to publicly humiliate him instead of help him study.

Trying but struggling = help studying.

Having the ability but being lazy = public humiliation.

The parents seem to believe that the kid has the talent to get good grades. I think it's a good route to take.

He doesn't even turn in the work they sit down and watch/help him do. I think it warrants humiliation.

It's story time!
When I took Calculus in high school. Whenever someone failed a calc test, the teacher would staple a fast-food application to the test upon return. It got the point across.

While I do find that story hilarious, knowing calculus does not make or break a future.

It might not make or break yours or mine, it can certainly break the future of an aspiring physicist or economist.

I never had to take calculus. Lucky teacher.

I get the point, but this carries with it the risk of the same sort of irony present when a high school guidance counselor attempts to deliver a lecture about the vast importance of career decisions.

Hey, give the kid a break...he got an "A" in P.E.
If he continues his stellar efforts there, he'll no doubt get a free ride at a major university; there, he'll be shielded from actual academic efforts by his coaches, get scouted by the pros and become a multi-millionaire!

You can't get any sort of engineering, CS, physics, or chem degree without passing a couple of semesters of calculus. Those are the highest paying degrees out of college. Hell even pre-med students take calc. I don't know about pre-law, but it probably helps.

GBmanNC 2009-02-08 03:24:34 PM
This kid will have the last laugh when that A in PE gets him in the NBA and he makes more money in his short career than most people make in a lifetime. And mom and dad ain't getting shiat!

VinceBerry 2009-02-08 03:24:57 PM
There are so many things wrong with this I don't know where to start.

-Just because you have several degrees doesn't mean your kid will.
-He's a reverend, that's probably the biggest problem.
-It's the south, which is the kid's second problem.
-If he's doing work and not handing it in then he's doing it for attention, probably because his parents care less about how the kid is doing mentally and more about test scores.

When I was a kid (not that long ago) if someone screwed up in school they either got yelled at, smacked, or otherwise punished by their parents.

Long story short, the kid needs help in the form of a tutor or a shrink. The parents need more help than the kid, unfortunately. They probably need a shrink more than he does.

Not long, I hope.

Clear and consistent rules and limits must be set for kids, along with consequences for violating them.

In the end though, all kids need to be treated with respect.

El_Freeker 2009-02-08 03:26:21 PM
I went to that high school; an "E" is the equivalent of an "F." Now, you're probably asking yourself, why not just give them an "F" like normal? Well, we never found that out, but our best guess is so no one thinks of themselves as a failure or some other precious-snowflake-mentality crap. Serves him right, the teachers there are very willing to help if you put forth half a try.

Basically an F. Before anyone thinks it is an "aww lets baby the kids and not give them an F", they were giving E's in my school over 20 years ago.

I do not understand the logic behind it, but that is what it is.

Different letter, same meaning. My biology teacher used odd ink colors and curved out the ends of the "E" to prevent them from being turned into "B"'s

Did anyone mention yet that he actually got high marks in PE class and that will surely land him a high paying professional sports career which will make him much much richer than his parents who want him to go to school because that's the way they did it and they're a couple of saps?

Seems like it would do more harm than good.

Might help convince the english teacher to raise his grades out of compassion though.

No, I'm one of those types who would never willingly subject my child to public ridicule. To me, that's exactly opposite of what a decent parent should do.

I have no problem with kids who are too farked up to do school...I was one of them.

That said, could you morons running the education system get them the fark out of my classroom, please? I will teach alternative Ed as readily as regular Ed. Sure, whatever. But you idiot educrats need to quit jerking yourselves off with the concept that any teacher can do both at the same time. Epic Fail, retards.

The parents should be out there with their own sandwich boards that say "We're to farking lazy to help"
If you want your retard jr. to get good grades, shut the farking tv off and help them with their homework. Parenting requires more work than just shiatting them out and sitting them in front of the boob tube you lazy bastards.

/It's not the education system, music, video games, or pop culture that's dumbing down America, it's lazy parents.
