There's an inherent problem when your cause is claiming that something gets no coverage in the media, but do no original reporting of your own.

According to The Washington Post, the crosses were defaced with a drawing of the crucifix of Jesus, one of the crosses was hung upside down with a condom on top, and finally, one of the crosses had the name of a College Democrats leader on it.

From the link WaPo article (on the front page of the WaPo's "B" Metro Section):

Crosses used in an antiabortion demonstration at George Washington University were defaced last week, and the school's College Democrats organization has apologized for the vandalism.

The crosses had been stored in a locked office shared by College Republicans and College Democrats. The Democrats issued a statement saying one of their members had admitted responsibility and had been expelled from the group but did not name the alleged offender.

Can the offender get sent to "sensitivity training?" Goose, gander, sauce, etc.

I remember back in '99 when I was in college some douchebag vandalized a menorah set up in the campus square. He was suspended for six months and had to reapply for admission. (It was in DC, and I'm pretty sure it got mentioned in the A section of the WaPo.)

Wingnut rag: ....a group of liberal bandits broke into the office and defaced the crosses.

WaPo: The Democrats issued a statement saying one of their members had admitted responsibility and had been expelled from the group but did not name the alleged offender.

I don't suppose we can know for sure if it was one, or a group, but notice how the horrible, evil MSM is reporting a fact (Dems issued a statement...) and the wingnut blog is reporting its own speculation, then goes on some non sequitur rant about fawning over Obama or something.

F*ck off you whiny douchebags.

Since when did political speech become religious speech? This is the equivalent of a counter-protest, not religious vandalism.

Possibly but I think that the blogger, even as irrational as he is, tries to point out their double standard, if it was a civil rights or synagogue vandalized it would be on the front page and even major news channels as a lead.

It reminds me of tawana brawley, when the accusations first happened it was all over the front page then after it came out she was full of shiat that it was relegated to the back pages as was the lawsuit brought by the lawyer that won a defamation suit against sharpton. Its a double standard but the blogger is a little crazy in his assertions.

steamingpile: if it was a civil rights or synagogue vandalized it would be on the front page and even major news channels as a lead.

Two different things. The vandalism of a synagogue is a crack at a religion, not a piece of political speech. The civil rights thing is closer, since they're both political, but in the case of a racist attacking a civil rights installation, you have an instance of an empowered group attacking a disenfranchised group. That's an instance of the strong attacking the "weak," at least in terms of political capital.

This just isn't the same.

Not necessarily. Israel has for some time equated objections with its choices as a country as objections with judaism. Didn't like the way the Gaza strip thing was handled, well then, you must be anti-semitic.

I bet most vandalism against synagogues are really more to do with Israels foreign policy than a hatred of the Jews.

So as long as its the weak attacking the strong its perfectly fine? That makes no farking sense at all, well I guess it would if you are in one of the groups who regularly scream that they are discriminated against.

TofuTheAlmighty

Yes that lame pie chart is mighty funny but it doesnt change the fact that oppression happens in all forms and should not be based solely on religious choice. Acceptance of silencing one group kind of goes against the whole non discrimination policy even thought most of you accept it since you believe they are in charge just because they have larger numbers.

And to make the pie chart right you would have to divide that up into the numerous branches of Christianity and also include the Muslims as the largest group.

You and I both know that the media can make peoples opinions for them no matter how educated or stupid they are, have you not seen all the propaganda from the 30s-60s on numerous topics? Or did you not see the numerous people who believed Iraq had WMDs? It's like John Locke said... leave the Jesus freaks alone. Nothing spurs religious extremism like persecution (or I guess perceived persecution).

However, in this case, I'd cast my vote that the dumbasses defaced their own shiat to stir up a little controversy and publicity.
