For some reason I read that as "17 Grammys, 5 giant squids"

/Would rather listen to squid noise than most Grammy winners
//Polka 'til you puke!

Today, Jimmy Sturr lives in the house he grew up in, with his parents, ...

For the love of God, Jimmy, please tell us you have well-tested carbon monoxide detectors whose batteries you replace like clockwork!

I met the guy once at a fundraiser, and I have to say, he's quite an enthusiastic following. They brought their own hot pots and such, and the building operators had to run an extra cable to run them all. They had beer-boiled kielbasa (and not-so-boiled too, heh), they snuck in some beer (and managed to keep it hidden), and had a really good time. And by golly, that guy raised a ton of money while he was there.

Jimmy is from a few towns away from me, and is one of our "Local celebs"

I've seen him perform at least a dozen times, and he does have one serious fanbase!

/not really into polka
//loves Oktoberfest.

The only Polka I listen to involves Mollie Busta.

As someone whose great-grandmother came from Poland, I'm getting a kick out of these replies...

Jimmy Sturr is great, but the time has come for someone to unseat him.

He puts out an album a year, and shows very little creativity, but because he's Jimmy Sturr he wins the Grammy.

I've seriously considered mounting a challenge to him for close to a decade now.

Then again, I spent years working in the polka radio biz.

No John Candy pictures?

I don't know much about polka, but was asked to pick a music bed for a polka block promo for my radio station (because for some reason, the two polka jock teams couldn't agree on one). I spent a whole day pulling and playing polka, looking for a piece that might be appropriate.

Later that night, I'm having a drink with a fellow jock, and I told him the weird thing I discovered: "You think rock and rap are self-referential? Every single polka song is about polka!" (Not entirely true: some of them are about beer, though polka gets mentioned along the way.) He stared at me, silent. "Well, think about it: There had to be a first polka song, right? But what was it about?"

Man, polka sucks.

I'm normally the guy that defends all kinds of music, but there is no defense for polka. It's a horrible, horible music genre.

I bet Jimmy Sturr has never used auto-tune.

Frank Yankovic unavailable for comment.

/Seriously.
//He's dead.

I saw him live at the Florida Family Fun Fest of 2000. That man knows how to rock a mic. You've never seen so many polish women get down. Then we had my friend locked in jail for 10 minutes while we went and got a beer. Good times.

/$1 a minute

Polka is great. Beer, meat and polka. The more beer you drink the better the polka gets.

Nice to meet you Jimmy, but I knew Frankie Yankovic first.
