Good night, drummy man.

I was once driving with a friend and noticed that there was a police cruiser in the intersection ahead. I said to her, "There's something happening here." I couldn't tell what it was, and of course I thought of the song and said "What it is ain't exactly clear." I looked over, and sure enough, there was a police officer with a side arm, so I added, "There's a man with a gun over there, telling me I got to beware."

I never really realized what the song was about until that very moment.

/true story

"Stills and Young successfully sued to prevent him from using the name without their participation."

Classy. They bathe in gold dust, and they clamp down on their former bandmate just trying to get by.

They wrote all of the songs. Seems kind of fair to me.

Agreed, however you gotta ask yourself just how much could he have made by continuing to tour as Buffalo Springfield? It's not like Stills & Young were broke! Obviously they didn't intend to ever tour as Buffalo Springfield again. I know drugs & Lionel trains are expensive, but.

It sounds like you haven't heard Neil Young's song "Buffalo Springfield Again."

I doubt that Dewey Martin was really hurtin', either, Buffalo Springfield was big. I'm sure at the least he always had session work after that.

Buffalo Springfield stood for something specific, a certain group of people in a certain time, so if two of its creators don't want a band touring as Buffalo Springfield, it's their decision, not ours.
