Let's see, is Bill Clinton a two-edged or three-edged sword? Be careful indeed how you use him.

Terry McAuliffe as VA governor? Yikes!

This VA resident is definitely a liberal leaning Dem, but that guy is a douche of the highest order and I can't stand the idea of him being governor.

Screw McAuliffe. Anyone who thinks we invaded Afghanistan for a gas pipeline needs to slither away and never be heard from again.

Fark McAuliffe. What we need here in Virginia is a Moran in charge.

I guess that pipeline that was planned from the gas fields around the Caspian region down to Pakistan was just fiction then. It was called the Trans Afghan Pipeline.

It's all moot now because they went through Baku instead and then through Georgia..which Russia now controls. I don't think we went to war to build this pipeline but to say plans for it din't exist is disingenuous.

Try to keep up. McAuliffe was asked if he believed the reason the US invaded Afghanistan was for the pipeline and he said he said he did.

McAuliffe is a douche. I'd expound on this, but that's all that really needs to be said.

"We believe these truths to be self-evident...that Terry McAuliffe is a douche."

Although I would be tempted to vote for him out of morbid curiosity if he vowed to wear his Tommy Bahama shirt and drink Puerto Rican rum during all of his press conferences...

Did you even read my post? I said I don't believe what he claimed but just pointed out that plans for that pipeline did indeed exist.

Well, as long as he remembers to clean up properly after, and not talk to Linda Tripp about it, he should do fine.

There needs to be a lot of people write in Moran in case it is a close race. Then we can see politicians argueing that they are the Moran.

Yes, because all real democrats realize that 2001-2005 was a great time for progressive politics.

The BTC (Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan) pipeline was the other way. The Afghan pipeline is stalled because the problems still in Afghanistan AND Pakistan. Just becuase it is Stalled does not mean it is cancelled. In fact, stalling this pipeline may have been the consideration. It was financed by Asian intrests afterall, not Western.

Whether we invaded Afghanistan for the right reasons or not, the planned Natural Gas pipelines were definitely a consideration. Natural gas pipelines through three countries that would provide service for hundreds of millions of people are definitely Strategic in value, both financially and militarily speaking.

The assumption that the United States of America would change it's policy of fighting wars for Natural Resource control and Sphere of Influence expansion within just the last decade is boggling to me. EVERY SINGLE WAR is started and fought for control of resources or control of strategic points. Why these recent wars should be different is beyond me.

The ability of the public to buy the propaganda about our current military adventures and just completely ignore any other justification than that which is stated and to dismiss all historical similarities to past military and political confrontations or motivations is beyond me.

I live in Virginia. I see him as a liberal Democrat with blowhard tendencies. I worked for Obama because I saw him as a pragmatist with liberal empathy...but an understanding of just how much a president can and should get away with.

The way McCauliffe ran Hillary's campaign in the final months painted him as delusional and increasingly frenetic - he seemed like he was on uppers. A chihuahua drinking espresso from the old Far Side cartoon.

I see Virginians as 51% Republican, 49% Democrat but will vote for the more sensible of the 2 candidates. But there truly are 2 or 3 distinct areas of Virginia. I live in Hampton Roads (Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Newport News..for those outside VA) - specifically Virginia Beach. This is where the Navy resides. A LOT of Republicans here in Virginia Beach - and they voted for McCain...but only by 1% point, a 9% point swing from 2004, where W won easily. Northern Virginia is mostly Democrat and Richmond and points west are kinda purple. The state as a whole is kinda purple but only recently started turning more blue.

I think he's a weirdo - but Northern Virginia may go for him. Bob McDonnell is the GOP Attourney General of the Commonwealth. He's smart, disciplined and will be a formidable opponent.

By the way....

In his bid for the Virginia governor's mansion, Terry McAuliffe will have to learn how wield his most powerful tool without staining his chances of victory?

Had some potential, but I think that could have been better....

How's this?

In probing Virginia for receptivity to a climactic victory after a long and sweaty wrestling bout, Terry McAuliffe will have to consider long and hard how to wield his most powerful tool without blowing it
