Pretend business owner, pretend war correspondent....shiat, he's a pretend "Joe." Why not add pretend political strategist to his resume?

Bored Horde 2009-02-06 01:36:47 PM
The GOP sure are shooting for a permanent majority... a Democratic majority that is.

Senescent Dawn 2009-02-06 01:38:59 PM
It's easy to take this kind of thing in stride, since political parties pull P.R. moves all the time. But this... when I think about it, really *realize* what they're doing... my jaw hits the floor all over again. How can a party blatantly pander to uneducated people like this? Does *anybody* respond well to it? Does anybody think that Joe is goin' to Washington to tell those fat cats what's what? Fightin' for the little guy? Jesus. Goddamn, man. Just... goddamn.

Back in the 90's, when the GOP were lauding Limbaugh for their new majority...well...at least he had a VAGUE idea what was going on.

This guy? He's a friggin' prop.

He's also had some tax troubles, which might have made him an awkward choice for a sage as Republicans take aim at the Obama administration for the tax woes of Tom Daschle and Timothy Geithner.

Delicious.

I love Joe Sam the Plumber Small Business Owner War Correspondent Political Mastermind.

Yeah, we Democrats had a run in with an attention whore that wouldn't step down when her 15 minutes of fame were up. Or do you all forget Cindy Sheehan. When it became clear that she was doing more harm than good, instead of encouraging her... we divorced ourselves from her.

The Republicans seem intent on not only embracing the media darling embarrassments... but elevating them to become the new leaders of their party.

BobtheFascist 2009-02-06 01:59:50 PM
First Palin, now this?

FloydA [TotalFark] 2009-02-06 02:00:06 PM

This is the best thing that could ever happen to American politics!

Wurzelbacher/Palin 2012!

And again in 2016, 2020, 2024. Hell, keep it up until Trig is old enough to run!

THIS. I honestly do think that's a distinguishing characteristic between the parties. The ability to admit, and thereby address, your mistakes.

It fits in well with the republican standard of pretending to not be a party of intolerant, corrupt incompetence.

Yes, they're called the Republican base. They think highly educated people are just a bunch of elitists with all their useless book learnin'. The country should be run by regular guys. Uneducated people will do a good job running the nation because they are believed to have the "common sense" that ignorant people tell themselves knowledgeable people lack to make themselves feel better about being ignorant.

It is pretty remarkable just how blatant the GOP pandering has been lately and how it exposes their utter lack of ideas. All they're doing is playing identity politics with far less qualified candidates.

I came here to see the weapons grade tardbuckets that make up our independent (tm) base.

I am disappointed - get in here and make with the stupid. In return I'll guess whether you have a closed head injury, were raped by your uncle, or were exposed to massive amounts of prenatal radiation.

$250?!? You can probably find an Asian dude selling them for $50 a pop in the parking lot of a gas station somewhere...

Mr. Coffee Nerves [TotalFark] 2009-02-06 02:53:19 PM
So, on one hand you've got Rush Limbaugh telling Republicans that they're "not Republican enough" and alienating the moderates.

On the other hand you've got Joe the Unlicensed Non-Plumber being embraced as a "strategist" and alienating the educated.

And on the mutant third hand you've got Saint Sarah and her fungible molecules for Jesus alienating the non-evangelicals.

If there is some Democratic Svengali behind all of this, then he/she makes Karl Rove look like Trig Palin with a half-empty box of "Lincoln Logs." The Republicans couldn't be more self-destructive if they were Artie Lange owning his own heroin dealership.

The only thing I don't like about that ticket is it would be bad for the economy...

...because Obama/Biden wouldn't have to spend a dime campaigning!
