Yes, this article is all about feminism. There were much, much better ways to troll with this headline, subby, and you picked the least effective, lowest-hanging fruit. Good job.

However, the author here has already said everything I might seriously say about this topic, and said it pretty effectively, so there's really nothing much else worth doing here.

I don't think it's anybody's damn business and seeing the media hound this family really is a new low.

2wheeljunkie [TotalFark] 2009-02-06 09:21:18 AM
Yeah, the outrage over this clown car has nothing to do with 14 kids spawned by in vitro fertilization to a jobless mother, no father, and a family that just filed for bankruptcy. The million dollar bill for caring for these crotchfruit that will ultimately come from out insurance premiums isn't a big deal at all. It's all about feminism.

Having children for the sake of publicity and free stuff is pretty offensive all by itself.

Must be you missed the bit where she is trying to whore herself and her brood out for talk shows, a reality tv show of her own and corporate sponsorship of free diapers, wipes, formula and food for life.

Guess so. I don't watch TV at home, so when I saw a muted TV at a restaurant the other day showing a media swarm on this lady's house, I assumed they had nothing better to do than follow around some new mother.

Before she left the hospital, before the babies left intensive care, the whole country had gone from 'gee whiz' to 'are you kidding?'

Not me. I went from "Oh, not this shiat agian..." to "Oh, not this shiat agian..."

The Suleman 14 don't have a father; they have a sperm donor. They were apparently all conceived by in vitro fertilization with the last eight presumably implanted en masse. For good measure, their mother doesn't have a job. And her family recently filed for bankruptcy.

I bet the outrage is more around this detail than any numerical counter.
Can you pay for your population explosion, or are you a one family welfare line.

There's a show on one of those chick channels where the husband and wife are devout christians right out of red state America, they all wear red and white checker dresses and none of the women cuts their hair.. and they have 17 kids, with #18 on the way. I always wonder if they pay all their kids way, and I figure they do, since all those little tax deductions plus the church not being taxed adds up.

You're talking about the Duggers, and they have 18 with another on the way.

I have no problem with the mother, She is a nutcase. I have a problem with the ethics involved in determining this woman was a good candidate for in vitro AND that implanting 8 embryos was medically sound.

Don't miss the forest for the trees, folks. The medical community should be on trial, not the crazy-assed mother.

It's the taxpayer's business, because that's who paid and will continue to have to pay for this clown car vagina's mentally ill obsession with bearing crotchfruit she has no means to care for.

The fertility clinic that determined this woman to be a viable candidate for in-vitro fertilization should be shut down.

This woman is mentally ill. These children are farked.

Edsel 2009-02-06 10:13:49 AM
How the fark did she pay for this??? Medicaid doesn't pay for IVF, and it doesn't sound like she had private insurance.

heinekenftw 2009-02-06 10:14:00 AM
Uh subby, complaining that a woman should not have 8 kids when she cannot take care of them has nothing to do with feminism or fertility.

I'd happily give this woman 3 cheers for having 14 kids if she had all the requirements necessary to take care of the kids. But rather, she's adding 8 crotchfruit to the world, plus her earlier six, with no money and no job. She's attention-whoring for money and everyone knows it.

IVF is not extreme fertility, its a method for infertile couples to have children. The doctor who did this IVF should have his license revoked.

One thing I hope I never hear from this woman's mouth is "Oh, it's so hard being a single mom." You weren't knocked up & left by some deadbeat. You weren't married & left for someone else. This is all you, baby.

Dear sweet Jebus... that headline was one hell of a troll, subby.

And for those bringing up the Duggers - the family with a hojillion chidren on the TV show - this isn't them, and there's a HUGE difference between them and this woman. The Duggers aren't having children that they can't take care of, and this woman is.

I don't give a fark if it's one child or twenty... you should have as many as you can provide for. If you can't take care of them you shouldn't have them. That simple. They are human beings, and they are your responsibility.

And the doctors in this should be looked in to for ethical lapses. At best they used poor judgement... at worst they are the most irresponsible jacktards I've heard of in a long, long time.

Pocket Ninja: Yes, this article is all about feminism. There were much, much better ways to troll with this headline, subby, and you picked the least effective, lowest-hanging fruit. Good job.

Well, to be fair, Trolls often have back problems caused by the fact that they generally spend much of their time hunched over under bridges, so you can't really expect them to pick anything other than the lowest-hanging fruit.

Vibecrusher 2009-02-06 10:31:40 AM
Should there be limits on fertility?

Shouldn't the title of the article, and the framing of the discussion be: Why aren't there limits on fertility yet?

There aren't enough resources in the world for the people already living on it, but hey, keep pumping kids out like it's no big deal. I'm sure there will be enough to go around...

Screw that. Everyone gets two kids. Two chances to make good on your reproductive rights and only after being licensed to do so. That's right. I said licensed. As in, take classes and be tested for some marginal level of competence, judgment, and common sense before you are given permission to undertake the immense responsibility of bearing children and raising them to not become a detriment to society.

someonelse 2009-02-06 10:35:51 AM
I'm afraid I'm going to have to insist that the submitter explain what exactly this story has to do with feminism. I know you're here, submitter. Step forward and explain yourself, or else you're a coward.

Damnhippyfreak [recently expired TotalFark] 2009-02-06 10:37:39 AM
I'm getting real sick of subby posting outright false headlines. And doubly sick of the hack mod who greenlights them.

The kicker is that this goes on while Drew's book, condemning this kind of shiat, is being advertised in the margins.

You don't need to be a feminist to think loading woman up on fertility drugs to make litters of human babies is potentially unethical.

Meanwhile the Right thinks rubbers are the tool of the devil.

Makes perfect sense.

On the subject - I think the doc who thought it was ok to implant eight embryos ought to be required to pay for their necessaries for the next eighteen years.

Yeah, once you put a ring on that finger. However you know the older ones are looking for a way out of that. What 18 year old girl wants to take care of 5 babies?

Was it unethical and irresponsible of the medical provider and mother to unleash this litter upon society? Absolutely, from a number of viewpoints. But, I must be turning into a bleeding heart liberal in my old age, because I think all of her kids got the worst end of the deal. They didn't ask to be born into this crap, they just get to deal with this circus.

DarnoKonrad 2009-02-06 10:54:07 AM
HappyDaddy: Just when I thought you couldn't get more ridiculous.

Hey, just because it's not you, doesn't mean the attitude doesn't exist. I didn't invent this warped version of puritanical logic.

It's like the HPV vaccine. I know a lady that won't get her 14 year old daughter one. Why? Why in god's name wouldn't you want to get that protection for your daughter?

It's the same people who think Rubbers, the very mention of their existence, is an affront to their world view. Much less promoting public health programs that could save us all tax and insurace dollars.

It's a valid tangent consider the pure troll of the headline.
