Pretty sure we need a 'who gives a sh*t' tag for this.

You ever been in one of those interviews where one person goes "ABLABLABLABLA!" and you say "What are you talking about?" and the other person goes "ABLABLABLABLA!"?

Who?

That 'interview' is lawyer talk, not Axl talk...I call shenanigans.

...and how! If ever there was an icon of all the music industries lies and bullshiat, Billboard is it.

There's not one bit of that "trade periodical" dedicated to art. It's 100% business first.

I really don't think he wrote that completely on his own. I'm not making aspersions on his intelligence or eloquence, but it sounds kind of "lawyery", and I work for a lawyer so I should know. But to be safe you would pass it by a lawyer before releasing it anyhow. What has happened to rock n' roll?

PYROY 2009-02-06 09:55:27 AM
Take that one to heart.

He's secured a fortune, and now he's protecting said fortune. Unfortunately, you can't take a record companies pack of lawyers out in the alley and beat the crap out of them with beer bottles. You have to cover your ass or the jackasses will bleed you dry.

Oh Axl, you so crazy.

*If* Axl wrote these responses himself, he's a very, very different animal than he was fifteen years ago. Only in the "what about a reunion?" question was there a handsome demonstration of the infamous ego as big as all outdoors. Could it be that the world's oldest spoiled baby has finally grown up?

Yeah, they presented the questions to Axl before he even considered doing the interview. He had one of his legal writers take a break from drafting a lawsuit against Jesus and whip up some answers.

He's 47 today

Now that interview is Rock n' Roll!

What a sad little man.

If that is Axl talking, then he has the best mood-leveling pharmaceuticals ever. There were points where he almost seemed . . . reasonable?

Man I feel old. I have to go home now. Damn kids are on my lawn . . . with their . . . music . . . and clothes . . . and energy drinks.

sigh. inevitability sucks

He probably sounds a little lawyer-ish after spending a good chunk of the past 15 years in courtrooms being sued by former bandmates.

CD holds up pretty well, once you get past the wait. Probably my fave album of last year but honestly- there wasn't much competition. Death Magnetic sounds like a pale imitation of old Metallica (still better than anything since the Black album though) and I'm not a big enough AC/DC fan to really get into Black Ice.

Hmm, now that you mention it, that *does* sound like a lot of the press releases that wander across my desk.
I hate those interviews where people say "hey, just send the questions, and we'll answer them and send them back." You know it's going to go through 17 people in the office, who will all make changes, then pass them back to the PR department who screw the whole thing up and toss in all the marketing speak that I need to extract before I can use the damn thing...

If this really *is* Axl, there's a PR company someplace that would like to hire him.

goodwynn 2009-02-06 04:05:35 PM
You know, these answers are bla bla bla. Guns and Roses are history, and the Axl Rose show is over, lets move on.

By the way, those braids are farking stupid.

Rev. Skarekroe [TotalFark] 2009-02-06 04:35:01 PM
Unless it's a recorded interview, I'm going to assume it's not really Axl. Or at the very least, it's Axl filtered by lawyers and agents.

Rev. Skarekroe [TotalFark] 2009-02-06 04:37:27 PM
This one actually sounds Axley-

What's your take on the media response to the album?

It's been a mixed bag. Some has been great, others a blood bath. That said, most of the nonsense has been from the same or the latest batch of negative idiots, so it was to be expected and really doesn't mean much. did see some jump ship, and that's always funny. Watching some douche waving a flag and then being the first punk in the water's always great.

and also

In regards to Slash, I read a desperate fan's message about, what if one of us were to die and looking back I had the possibility of a reunion now, blah blah blah. And my thoughts are, "Yeah, and while you're at the show your baby accidentally kicks a candle and burns your house down, killing himself and the rest of your family."

Give me a farking break. What's clear is that one of the two of us will die before a reunion and however sad, ugly or unfortunate anyone views it, it is how it is. Those decisions were made a long time ago and reiterated year after year by one man.

There's an easy way to tell it's him - the transcripts of the fan chats he did sound exactly like this. Those were real time so unless a pack of lawyers were at the PC - it may just be that the guy is now 47 and has been in the business for a while.

You have to admit that Catcher in the Rye is one of the best rock songs this decade.

At least the Metallic and AC/DC album sound like something they would put out. The Gun's album sound nothing like there earlier stuff imo. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would have been. A Replacements reunion would have produce a better album than this.
