Not until they find a picture of Bush cutting brush in Texas not wearing a tuxedo and a top-hat.

So they found a single instance of Pres. Bush not wearing a jacket in 8 years of time in the oval office, and flout that this clearly means Bush was lying about having a general 'coat and tie' policy for the oval office? Wow.

Now don't get me wrong, I could give two shiats about whether the president is wearing a tie in the oval office. If I was president, I wouldn't farking wear one.

monty666 [TotalFark] 2009-02-06 02:40:02 AM
So you can wipe your ass with the constitution and the bill of rights and still claim to uphold the dignity of the presidency?

Yes. It appears he was lying.

I think we can be assured Bush lied a great deal while in the Oval Office.

Yes. Coat and tie mandatory, Constitution optional. I mean, Bush never got a beej in the oval office, so he really must have respected it.

Bill_Wick's_Friend 2009-02-06 03:16:04 AM
The Bush administration seems to be trying to wring every last drop of fail out of their time in office.

Of course not. Being Republican means never having to say you're sorry.

You should RTFA before making a statement. They have many pictures of him, the first being: A jacketless President George W. Bush signs forms with staff secretary Harriet Miers in the Oval Office on January 22, 2001...two days after his inauguration.

2 days in office, not 8 years, jackass. Obaman went with a jacket longer than Bush did. The outrage isn't against Bush anyway, it's his asshat of a chief of staff who knee jerks a retarded news sound bite and was completely wrong, hypocritical, lieing, and will not admit it ever.

BladBoy [TotalFark] 2009-02-06 05:04:52 AM

That sums up the Bush administration in a nutshell.

They have only one of Bush. The rest are mostly of Clinton. Bush said he changed the policy after seeing photos of Clinton in sweaty track clothes in the Oval Office. The one photo they have is prior to the policy change obviously.

Just STFU and fade away, douchebags.

Psh, when I'm president I'm going to wear shorts and sandals every day to work, and I'll tell America to suck it.

Who cares?

Blathering Idjut 2009-02-06 07:28:59 AM
It's easy to keep your jacket on when you spend all of five minutes at work and the rest on vacation.

So if Inside Edition was a newspaper what would it be? The Sun? NY Post?

He must have at some point. He just never got caught and never cheated.

czetie 2009-02-06 07:37:51 AM
Maybe it's just me, but I think that the day Obama called out the Republicans for their "fake outrage" was an underestimated turning point in the presidential election.

It gave the rest of us, and especially the press, "permission" to stop suffering in silence the BS that made up so much of the Republican campaign strategy. To the very end the McCain/Palin campaign continued to spout its fake outrage... without ever realizing that they no longer had traction.

/That concludes this serious interlude
//We now resume your usual snarkiness and partisan name calling

Wear Tie and Jacket to and into the office, remove if need be, replace for important business = respect.

Ditch tie and jacket entirely and then turn up the heat so you can be cozy while you contemplate forcing Americans to turn their thermostats down = slacker hypocrite.

Congratulations, you've hired an Elitist Dweeb.

abigsmurf 2009-02-06 07:39:49 AM
Does this farking matter? This is why I hate the Huffington Post and co.

If you're going to point out that something said was stupid and inane, if you followup with a "NO U" article, you're just as bad. Gutter Press is gutter press no matter which way it leans

Yes, I clearly remember his proposal to have commandos storm American homes to turn down their heat.

Alien Robot: Bush said he changed the policy after seeing photos of Clinton in sweaty track clothes in the Oval Office. The one photo they have is prior to the policy change obviously.

So, it's just some bullshiat policy that Bush made because he didn't like Clinton's attire and not some long, traditional respect for the office, but now everyone should follow this policy?

priestrape 2009-02-06 07:51:40 AM
that's rich...a Republican admitting being wrong? They get caught red handed backed up against an airport bathroom stall glory hole and, even then, can't admit anything.

Nope...you'll see Palestinians and Israelis fighting side-by-side against an alien invasion before a Neocon will utter the words "My bad"

Andrew Card, like Bush, Cheney, Rummy, Rice, Gonzo, IS A WAR CRIMINAL
www.usatoday.com
but at least he wore a tie while committing his War Crimes, so I guess he's ok.

Mkay, Card didn't say "Bush had a general 'coat-and-tie rule'," he said [Bush] "always wore a suit and tie in the Oval Office. There was never a picture of him that was seen by the public in which he wasn't wearing a suit and tie."

There are pictures ot Bush not wearing a coat and tie. Mkay?

I would wear a tie, and that is all. One of those skinny ones.

Since most Republicans are chicken hawks that never actually put on a uniform, they regard the traditional suit as their uniform. It helps them sleep better when they loudly advocate sending our sons and daughters into harms way while they stay tucked away in their offices and country clubs.

FTA:

One day after President Bush's former Chief of Staff Andrew Card blasted President Obama for breaking the Bush dress code, which reportedly required that a jacket be worn by anyone entering the Oval Office, we've unearthed a photo of, well, a jacketless President Bush in the Oval Office.

So they found a picture of Bush sitting at his desk, without his coat on. Is that proof that he entered the Oval Office without a coat? I seem to remember that President Reagan had the same rule.

yeah well Obama doesn't. So there. It might be trivial but it's change I can believe in.

At least the U.S. now has a president who wont wear cowboy boots with his suit.

A pair of black Shelltoes maybe, but hardly boots.

That's an improvement in my book.

Not mine. I want a President who wears cowboy boots with his suit AND a bolo tie.
I would've voted for Richardson on his wardrobe alone.
