Banning new high rise buildings isn't such a bad thing IMO.
Mind you, lack of high density living space contributes to sprawl ... so you can't have it both ways.

burndtdan: build the parks on top of high rise buildings.

They're already (supposedly) going to be building them on top of highways. I am for more sun, less high-rises. And for green rooftops!

If you choose to live in a city you're going to have to deal with things like high rise buildings, light pollution, noise pollution & traffic congestion. It's all part of the urban hipster experience.

Have you ever been to Boston? Boston Commons? It's about as far away from Urban Hipster as you can get. There are enough places downtown to build up. Leave the ring around the park open.

Common, dammit. It is Boston Common. There is only one of them.

And if you live in a city you should probably get used to the idea of tall buildings and the shadows they may cast.

Move to Hingham. Leave the city for people who actually like cities.

Having lived in Boston all my life, this is an old issue. Beacon Hill/Back Bay residents have been biatching for years about Boston slowly turning into Manhattan (Endless streets of skyscrapers blocking out the sun most of the day.

I get it, but at the same time, C'MON!

Ugh. And the building shakes every time a semi passes underneath?
