The best one is the lizard

Dayum....those are amazing.

scotto 2003-01-26 10:50:57 PM
I saw a lot of them last year in Rio. They are awesome. The people that do them work for tips. They make a lot of money from tourists (go figure).

Narmacil 2003-01-26 10:51:17 PM
Wow, those are incredible! Especially those skeletons. Wonder how long it takes to make stuff like that?

Bondith 2003-01-26 10:51:23 PM
Wow.

They should send these so-called modern artists to that beach. They might learn something, and stop cluttering up out public spaces with bizarre collections of modernist rubbish.

In other news, I've decided to start spelling it 'Brasil', since that's how they apparently spell it down there.

elevati0n 2003-01-26 10:51:56 PM
Those are farkin amazing! Look at the lion's mane. Unbelievable.

LogicsFist 2003-01-26 10:52:23 PM
Those sculptures put the giant sand-fortress I've seen at the Minnesota state fair to complete shame...that is really really good. I hope they get paid well on those tips.

Bondith 2003-01-26 10:53:43 PM
7 (or more) posts, and nobody's made fun of them. You know something's good if Fark responds with reverence.

Sadius 2003-01-26 10:53:54 PM
Its official....I had this in my inbox this morning before I saw it on fark.....amazing, so there is actually things out there that I get to see before Fark.

Sweet. :)

spiderbarks 2003-01-26 10:56:08 PM
They're cool but obviously more than just sand & water.
Probably use some kind of industrial adhesive that leeches into the soil thereby contaiminating the drinking water & cause numerous birth defects.

Ya know, you can start a flame war on just about any topic here.

elevati0n 2003-01-26 10:56:47 PM
Bondith, you're right. This has to be some kind of record.

Eu amo Fark e tudo que representa.

Chronin 2003-01-26 11:04:03 PM
Man, those are really good. They are so good that I thought they were a clever photoshop at first. It must have taken forever to build those.

BotoxBarbie 2003-01-26 11:05:14 PM
Some people are just so talented. I can't even make a silly sand castle!

Zaago 2003-01-26 11:05:14 PM
Melhor. Afixando. Sempre.

Doesn't anyone here speak Portuguese?
It is funnier if you do.

I love Fark and all it represents?

Zaago 2003-01-26 11:06:26 PM
O português é a làngua oficial de Brasil.

Ewwww, beastiality...

Zaago 2003-01-26 11:08:33 PM
O homem é um animal surpreendente, mas olha despido feio.

I thought in honor of such talent, we'd all speak Portuguese.

MooKow 2003-01-26 11:09:49 PM
Zaago- Better affixing always? Whaaa?

BotoxBarbie 2003-01-26 11:10:09 PM
Sorry Zaago, I can't speak Portugese

Best Post Ever

You do not expect a literal translation, do you?

Zaago 2003-01-26 11:11:53 PM
Neither can I, but it is fun to learn.
I am used to Germanic Languages' grammar.

Zaago 2003-01-26 11:13:10 PM
Plus, I am testing a theory.
Is it procrastination if you never actually do something you have put off for so long?

This is my way of procrastinating.

BotoxBarbie 2003-01-26 11:15:04 PM
I don't know; I'll get back to you

Palmer 2003-01-26 11:16:41 PM
Those are impressive. No more intricate castles!

Helios1182 2003-01-26 11:26:55 PM
I can make out a bit of the Portuguese from knowing Spanish. My other languages, multiple dialects of computer, don't seem to help at all.

hpgroup 2003-01-26 11:30:10 PM
Someone should make some sand versions of those snowmen that Calvin (& Hobbes) makes.

bv2112 2003-01-26 11:30:21 PM
I am a farker from Brazil. Though I go to college in the US. Why I moved from my apartment 6 blocks from a beach 8 degrees under the equator to the arctic cold and hickish economically depressed inhospitable backwoods of Western Pennsylvania... beats me. I'm a farking idiot! Beer from $0.30/20oz to $1.75/pint. Gaaaah!

But things will be better when I graduate. I'll leave this crappy cold weather to go to grad school in either Ohio State, Penn State, or Toronto... Am I a raging fool or what?

Anyway, it is Brasil, and the World Cup is way better than this Super Bowl crap.

If you used AFIXAR as a translation of POSTING, that's bad.

Remember, we bastardized the language of Portugal. If you want me to translate anything, just let me know.

Um abraço, amigos gringos!

brahm2 2003-01-26 11:33:00 PM
If little kids made those castles I would step on them.

Katalyst 2003-01-26 11:34:24 PM
*laughs at the nerd*

Sandmanx1x 2003-01-26 11:41:50 PM
Check it out. I guess they really are just sand and water.....

lostpixie 2003-01-26 11:42:53 PM

All I remember of Portuguese from working at DisneyWorld:

jielo = ice (because they never wanted it in their drinks)

frango = chicken (not the mints from Marshall Fields

"chayz [long pause] booger" = what a Brazilian teenager with a big flag and dozens of identically attired clones calls a cheeseburger.

Oh, and they chanted. All the time. It was scary.

neutron5o [TotalFark] 2003-01-27 12:07:23 AM
Anyone else notice how morbid the sculptures were? Cool though....

lupi 2003-01-27 12:28:10 AM
I always wondered... any brazilian farkers?
I´m one... not very proud of it tho..
;)
And Lostpixie, portuguese for ice is "gelo".

higgledy 2003-01-27 12:29:41 AM
Those sculptures are indeed very very cool.

Curator 2003-01-27 01:13:06 AM
Muito bem!

Seriously, that's amazing.
