Sweet.

The graphics suck but hopefully the gameplay will make up for it.

WHO THE HELL PUT THIS PIECE OF CRAP LINK UP? I Didn't come here to be fooled into watching advertising for yet another mediocre game in an already flooded market. Quick1: BLOW ME.

JimmyJones 2003-01-26 06:13:06 PM
What's this? Masters of Orion 3? Where there two before it? Were they anything special?
No? Oh, ok then.

AgentPothead 2003-01-26 06:13:18 PM
Tommy, master of orion 3 is not yet another mediocre game. You are obviously somebody who isn't old enough to remember the original Master of Orion, or my personal favorite in the series, Master of Magic. So to all you farkers who are using daddies computer and dont know what MOO is. I feel for you.

MaDSheeP 2003-01-26 06:14:37 PM
is it a good game yet?

JimmyJones 2003-01-26 06:14:47 PM
Errr...that should be "Master of Orion 3"...for you people that want to flame me.

FYI Celine Dion is singing god bless america..... and shes canadian.... discuss

el_matarife 2003-01-26 06:15:16 PM
I've been waiting for this game since it was announced. This will be the best turn based strategy game since Civ 2 or Moo2.

Chess_the_cat 2003-01-26 06:15:18 PM
Wow! An ad! An ad through which I can buy a crappy game! Please, more links like this!

RabidSquirrel 2003-01-26 06:15:33 PM
It's about bloody well time. We've only been waiting for this ex-vaporware for the last eight hundred years now.

Hopefully it'll be worth the endless delays...

MaskimXuul 2003-01-26 06:17:58 PM
Right on, AgentPothead. MOO III is nice news...but I'd get excited about MoM II. Don't see it happening, though...

UnknownCactus 2003-01-26 06:18:27 PM
wow, a picture... with a link to buy a game... very nice marketing there.

JimmyJones 2003-01-26 06:19:25 PM
To your point, ThreeLittleSmurfs:
People are just as justifiably not exited. Not everyone digs the turn-based strategy games.
You'll probably think lowly of me, but I personally enjoy the more cerebral games, where action is the base of the game.

Trell 2003-01-26 06:19:26 PM
Better title: "MOO3 goes gold. Whatever, say creators of Duke Nukem; Forever"

Banedon 2003-01-26 06:21:39 PM
If you click the 'Buy' link it takes you to the real site. They all kinds of explainations and a bit of backstory about what happened after MOO2.

Suffer through the pain and you shall be rewarded with crazy bat-shait computer gaming goodness. Did I mention this is on my 'To Buy" list?

My point was, that I was deceived into viewing blatant advertising. Not old enough? I was doing this crap when you were still swimming around in your father's balls. Nice name. Moron.

I can type. I swear I can... just not today.

MOO Trivia: The inspiration for the "stellar converter," the greatest weapon in MOO, was "Battle Beyond the Stars," in which the bad guy from "Enter the Dragon" says, "I have a stellar converter, the most powerful weapon in the galaxy."

einsatz 2003-01-26 06:30:23 PM
Didn't this go gold like three days ago?

Grand Fromage 2003-01-26 06:33:32 PM
There is a god.

TacticalCandy 2003-01-26 06:34:57 PM
O sh!t, AgentPothead gave a shout out to Master of Magic and for that I must give a big ups to you.

It takes a bold man to call this game crappy when you haven't played it yet noting that the previous 2 rocked the gaming industry's face. I think I'll go have a good cry now.

FARKinggametester 2003-01-26 06:34:59 PM
went gold friday.

ReverendOtisElevator 2003-01-26 06:38:26 PM
Putting out a third title after such a long amount of time, I do hope the developers kept it together. Unlike some others I can think of...

Just look at Warcraft 3.

vidalsasoon 2003-01-26 06:39:38 PM
Looks like yet another game that will bore me to tears.

corfe 2003-01-26 06:48:17 PM
TommyymmoT : I think if you watch this thread you'll see a great number of farkers loved the past 2 games, they're both absolute classics, and this one has been in the works a good 5 years. I'm sure we'll do the same when (if) Duke Nukem Forever comes out :)

just relax, nobody is trying to MAKE you buy the game - if you didn't want to see a link about a game going gold, then don't click on it, as it was clearly labelled - most "gone gold" announcements have a link to buy the game :P

TacticalCandy 2003-01-26 06:50:25 PM
Corfe: ahem, Duke Nukem Never

hpgroup 2003-01-26 06:51:19 PM
I personally allocated a significant portion of my life to MOO1. I wasn't too enthused about MOO2, though.

Draskuul 2003-01-26 06:52:48 PM
I'll believe it when I have it in my hands.

I've had this on pre-order on Amazon for half a year, and Microprose kept pushing it back. Why bother? They'll have to release a major patch in a few weeks anyway.

Cujandy 2003-01-26 06:54:44 PM
Humanity Rejoices... I'm sure the Ethrinopeans give a shiat...

fireblade 2003-01-26 07:07:40 PM
the Space Empires series totally kicks Master of Orions ass.

QuithEx 2003-01-26 07:14:06 PM
Never played MOO, will have to check it out. Is it anything like Homeworld (that game rules)?

Buy why oh why was my precious Splinter Cell pushed back to February???

eric1alpha 2003-01-26 07:15:51 PM
Ok the first two might have been good but the screens of the third look like a 'value' title aimed at 6 to 12 year olds or maybe placeholder art. Yeah the gameplay might be good and deep and balanced but I dont want to stare at something that ugly for the time it would take to find out. Ugh their site has better art than the game itself. How does that happen in 3 years? Sheesh. There are too many good games out there. Eat it infogrames.

jonr 2003-01-26 07:17:48 PM
I wish somebody would make a master of magic sequel. That was pretty good game.
J.

ReverendRon 2003-01-26 07:21:51 PM
I also think there is no sense in putting out a game with shiatty graphics with the technology that is available today and the amount of time they have put in this game. That said i do appreciate a good turn based strategy game but i will stick to medieval total war or age of wonders 2. Eat it infrogrammes you civilization (the game) ruining mofos.

CraftyBernardo 2003-01-26 07:39:43 PM
Nope notthing like homeworld. The gphs in moo are much lower. The gameplay is turn based but the depth and richness in Moo2 is far far greater than homeworld. For a gameplay standpoint. Homeworld is Redneckrampage here compaired to the Deus Ex of Moo. For graphics just flip that around. HW was cool so do go all apeshiat on me everyone. It just was not designed to be as in depth as Moo

Can someone explain to me why, when Unreal Tournament 2003 goes gold, it's in stores by the end of the week, but Masters of Orion III *might* be in stores by the end of February?

Asmor 2003-01-26 07:44:50 PM
Ahem...

W00T!

That is all.

Wow. Someon'e a little hostile today. I only posted the preview because I knew absolutely nothing about MOO3. MOO2 is unquestionably one of the best strategy games ever.

GreasyP 2003-01-26 08:05:30 PM
Regarless of the fact that this is one of the promotional-style links that are getting so annoying, that is one of the funniest pictures I think I've ever seen. Thanks for making me laugh.

HenryFnord [TotalFark] 2003-01-26 08:46:37 PM
Can someone explain this 'gone gold' thing to me, when the game's never been released? I still don't get that.
