Honestly, I started watching Fox News on September 11th because they were angry and were not afraid to show it. Since then they have kept that anger, and don't let the accepted standards of TV News dampen thier moods. For Fox its about the people. Plus they have better personalities and of course...Geraldo

paradoxflux 2003-01-26 01:53:38 PM
Fox news is more interesting, and they give the feeling that they are on my side. CNN is bland and boring, especially with new more focused news channels on cable.

riitzen 2003-01-26 02:00:49 PM
If I wanted that kind on news I'd watch Aljazeera.

Sudie 2003-01-26 04:05:03 PM
This calls for a Google fight:

CNN @ 2,150,000 vs FOX @ 2,560,000*

*Disclaimer: The input was manipulated by the submitter in order to achieve the desired output. Remember, a statistical claim is never completely free of bias. For every statistic that is quoted, others have been left out. This does not mean you should discount all statistics, or more specifically, the statistics reported above. They are definitive proof that CNN sucks. ;)

Fox News is loud, arrogant, talk radio-type propaganda brought to television. You either like that shiat or you don't.

I don't.

Quick1 2003-01-26 05:50:20 PM
"fair and balanced"

The best joke on TV. I don't care that FOX is biased, but to claim they aren't is hilarious.

DrToast 2003-01-26 06:01:07 PM
I'll watch Fox News for entertainment value, but I don't consider it a reputable news source.

JDJoeE 2003-01-26 06:19:59 PM
I think Fox News is CNN for the Jerry Springer audience.

crazyjim 2003-01-26 06:20:20 PM
Its called: CNN isn't a monopoly. CNN is just tough to compete with.

There are several examples of buisnesses that are sub par, but due to the amount of money you need to compete with them at all, they remain sub par, and dominating.

AndrewFish 2003-01-26 06:21:24 PM
"Remember, you're in the no-spin zone!"

"farkING LIBERAL PUSSIES! I hate jews!"

God damn I love the factor.

"Fox news is more interesting, and they give the feeling that they are on my side. CNN is bland and boring, especially with new more focused news channels on cable."

Why do I find this statement so unsettling?

Whats that? Junk food news reigns over real jounalism? No kidding ..

Whats next? Howard Stern beats PBS in the ratings?!

IHaveAIDS 2003-01-26 06:22:22 PM
Sean Hannity is my man. He is so god damn awesome. Praise Hannity and Fox news!

InternetSecurityGuard 2003-01-26 06:22:25 PM
The real reason CNN is going down hill is that they still use Beta.

The_Pole_Of_Justice 2003-01-26 06:22:30 PM
Let's try that again...

dotderf 2003-01-26 06:25:19 PM
I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore! I want news that isn't a farce.

severin 2003-01-26 06:25:43 PM
It's not nice to call Greta Van Susteren that.

Wait that was CNN handing to Foxnews.

ComicBookGuy 2003-01-26 06:26:38 PM
2003 - "Fox News, Fair and Balanced"
1933 - "Volkischer Beobachter, Fair and Balanced"

Crotchrocket Slim 2003-01-26 06:27:51 PM
Hearst proved that yellow journalism will always outsell credible journalism, so what.

ToffeeApple 2003-01-26 06:27:53 PM
If it's not the BBC, it's not news.

TotallyFarkedDude 2003-01-26 06:28:46 PM
Well it's no surprise - CNN used to be called the "Clinton News Network". They've been getting so cozy with Capital Hill that they are part and parcel a pure mouthpiece of the power elite. Maybe people are just tired of it.
But going with crap like Chung and King and the rest is a cop out. Back to core values, reporting the damn news, not interviewing crack-addict rock stars and wannabe bimbos...

Young_Fart 2003-01-26 06:29:14 PM
FOX serves an American audience. CNN on the other hand serves a world audience. For this reason, CNN is always on eggshells when it reports. It is very easy for CNN to alienate half its audience. And by not taking a pro-US attitude, nay it is taking an apologetic attitude, Americans feel alienated by CNN. So, we watch FOX.

Young_Fart 2003-01-26 06:30:31 PM
Um, Larry King is a core value for CNN. He's their biggest brand.

Tanqueray 2003-01-26 06:31:18 PM
CNN is so weak.

Giving Larry King a talk show in prime time will go down in history as one of the worst errors in judgement of all time. He'll be framed in the Smithsonian next to Gen. Custer.

Crotchrocket Slim 2003-01-26 06:33:36 PM
Of course, Young_Fart, by taking a "pro-US" attitude, doesn't that mean that Fox News gives up any claim of being "fair and balanced"? All news has bias, Fox's is laid on extra thick and yet they pretend it isn't there.

jgaynor 2003-01-26 06:34:42 PM

Perhaps you should amend "Americans" to read "Americans who can't be bothered with forming their own opinions by listening to multiple viewpoints."

KazamaSmokers 2003-01-26 06:35:14 PM
CNN - better news.
FOX - better ratings.

Guess which one is deemed more important these days?

RandyJohnson 2003-01-26 06:37:02 PM
'If it were just about higher ratings, we would put Bill Hemmer in a tight, white T-shirt and our numbers will go up,' Walton said

Ummm no they would not.

clevershark 2003-01-26 06:38:16 PM
CNN's become the MTV of the news sector... they used to broadcast news 24/7, but nowadays they have *no* current news program between 7 and 10. WTF is up with that?

There's about as much live news coverage at CNN these days as there are music videos being shown on MTV. The rest is made up of Connie Chung's fluff pieces (she actually used to be a serious journalist, oddly enough) and Larry King's daily borefest. This is the evening programming of course, those of us with jobs don't really care what's on during the day.

All in all, CNN doesn't even deserve whatever poor ratings it's getting.

StinkyPinky 2003-01-26 06:38:31 PM
FOX news is a virulent load of monkey-nuts spreading hate-mongering and misinformation.

It makes the baby jesus cry...

ZygoticMynciBoy 2003-01-26 06:41:48 PM
OK, I'm a Brit who get Fox on Satellite TV. I tune in now and again, and quite frankly I find it both hilarious and terrifying.

Compare it to the BBC, people. That's what proper, UNBIASED news is all about. They tell you what's what, and you decide for yourself. They don't TELL YOU WHAT TO THINK.

Fox is a joke.

MaskimXuul 2003-01-26 06:42:08 PM
Television news is entertainment first, folks. You choose whatever flavor you like. I haven't any patience with any of it. While the talking heads are teasing you with information that they PROMISE to tell me right after the commercials, I'm pulling up the AP and UPI wires on Drudge, and scanning Early Bird. The 'Net gives you the news about 90% faster and often days earlier than the networks.

Watch CNN or Fox with a stopwatch one night, and figure out how much time either one actually spends giving you information.

"Propaganda...must always be essentially simple and repetitious. In the long run, only he will achieve basic results in influencing public opinion who is able to reduce problems to the simplest terms and who has the courage to keep forever repeating them in this simplified form despite the objections of the intellectuals."

Epistax 2003-01-26 06:44:43 PM
Fox news is as non objective as possible. I don't trust a word they spew. Whenever they have a breaking story on at the same time as other networks, the exaggerate to try to make it more exciting.

CNN says 20 bullets were fired, well FoxNews will say 50.

Not a joke, they're just asses.

Anyway, HarryBeanBag, you miss the point of decent journalism... it isn't about bringing a variety of viewpoints to the presentation, so much as it is keeping them to a minimum and reporting on facts themselves... of course, facts get in the way of the constant barrage as editorial pieces disguised as news on Fox News.

rhiannon [TotalFark] 2003-01-26 06:48:11 PM
I'll just stick with the Weekly World News 'cause they tell it like it is.

MrLint 2003-01-26 06:48:27 PM
Foxnews is so full of republican/consertative bullshiat its not even funny. Thier tagline "we report, you decide" is such crap they do more commentary and 'analysis' there then on a whole channel devoted to Jerry springer.

DrToast 2003-01-26 06:48:37 PM
ZygoticMynciBoy

Save your righteousness. I've read some British rags that are pretty biased.

Fulgore243 2003-01-26 06:48:52 PM
Fox News definitely has hotter anchorwomen... Kiran Chetry is my personal favorite :D

More where that came from :D

Crotchrocket Slim 2003-01-26 06:50:07 PM
Poor Ms. Chetry, stuck working for such a crap news agency, only because of her very, very nice looks...

-OK, I'll stop...

Hey, whenever I want the latest news on Americas Worst Drivers or the latest Animal Attacks Caught On Tape, theres only one channel that can satisfy my hunger for poingant, unbiased 'news' .. Fox!

Cut them some slack, people! ;)

Godamnlimey [TotalFark] 2003-01-26 06:53:01 PM
Ever read Bernie Goldberg's "Bias"?
Makes no difference if you're left, right or center,it's entertainment,it's all about the benjamins.

jgaynor 2003-01-26 06:54:10 PM

First page of an google image search for Fox news :).

Reactron [TotalFark] 2003-01-26 06:56:49 PM
Those of you who have a Pavlovian disregard for Fox miss out on some truly fine entertainment. Watching Michael Moore hand that pinhead, Bill O'Reilly, his ass in a gift-wrapped box was priceless. And I despise Michael Moore just as much as I can't stand that pompous ass O'Reilly.

clambam 2003-01-26 06:59:07 PM
Yeah, I get my info from the Weekly World News too. That, and the Daily Show on Comedy Central.

I hold the Weekly World News personally responsible for the horrible weather we've been having. Every year around October the WWN publishes an article about how this is going to be the worst winter ever. You know, people freeszing in their apartments, ten feet of snow in Miami, that sort of thing. Then we have an abnormally warm winter.

THIS year they predicted an extremely warm winter -- people on the beach in Maine in January and so on. And look where it's gotten us! Damn you, Weekly World News!

Oh by the way, when I want the real news, I watch CNN.
