I want whatever he's smoking.

Except when I get it, keep me away from the studio.

We don't need no singing actors
We don't need their awful tone
No Joaquin Phoenix, phony rapper
Please just leave Pink Floyd alone

Hey! Phoenix!

Leave Pink Floyd alone!

He's skating on thin ice.

We're gonna send him back to mother in a cardboard box. You better run!

Tastes Like Chicken [TotalFark] 2009-02-04 02:26:18 PM
I think he means a rap album that is the equivalent to Pink Floyd's The Wall. Still dumb, but slightly less so. I can't wait to hear this. With a little luck it'll be as good as MC Karl Rove's debut performance.

panfried [TotalFark] 2009-02-04 02:32:13 PM
He'd better not, but:

If He should go skating
On the thin ice of re-writing life
Dragging behind him the silent reproach
Of a million tear stained eyes
Don't be surprised, when a crack in the ice
Appears under his feet
He'll slip out of his depth and out of his mind
With his fear flowing out behind him
As he claws the thin ice

I will come after your sorry white ass. Don't do it.

Thanks!

His "retirement" from acting has already been outed as a hoax - he's filming it all for some movie project...

coyote71 2009-02-04 02:37:08 PM
The evidence before the court is
Incontravertable, there's no need for
The jury to retire.
In all my years of judging
I have never heard before
Of someone more deserving
Of the full penalty of law.
The way you made them suffer,
With your rap plans, you lame nutter,
Fills me with the urge to defecate!

BunkoSquad 2009-02-04 02:43:09 PM
Joaquin, do you think we'll drop the bomb
Joaquin, do you think we'll like your songs
Joaquin, do you think this was a good idea?
Ooooooh, get this a-hole out of here

THIS TOO!

Seriously, if this guy comes within 500 yards of any Pink Floyd sheet music (not that he has the brains to read it), I will personally eviscerate the smarmy little SOB with a copy of UmmaGumma.

I will, however, let him do as he will with any material from Fictitious Sports. That album sucked several species of small, furry animals, gathered together in a cave and grooving with a Pict.

I think this is full of win.

If he fails then he can go back to acting and he will forever get cast in "edgy" roles. If he succeeds then he will make more money than Syd Barret.

Either way it works out for him. Kind of like when John Malkovitch became a puppeteer.

Affleck filmed Phoenix at the press conference [...] Presumably the footage will end up in Affleck's vaunted documentary

Which Affleck is going by a single name now, Ben or Casey?

In all fairness, the bluegrass version kicked arse! How bad could a hip hop version be?

I didn't get the impression that he was literally remaking The Wall as a rap album. Just something in the same scope as The Wall.

floorpie 2009-02-04 04:50:11 PM
GonzoNihilist,

Seconded. I'm not a big bluegrass fan, but they did a great job, it did kick arse, and they had a great bunch of musicians and singers assembled.

Still, I'm not eager to hear Joaquin's hip-hop version.

jj325 [TotalFark] 2009-02-04 04:54:29 PM
I so hope Roger has enough control over The Wall to prevent this. If not I know he has the money/power to have Phoenix "disappear"

This!!!

To all those who can't seem to read today. Wants a hip hop equivalent of The Wall not a hip hop remake of The Wall.

Nice, I saw them 4 years ago or so and they were awesome. I had forgotten all about it. Now I got to throw that album on.

Personally, I'd like to hear what he's got brewing. If you don't want to hear it, don't buy/steal it. That's my Nickelback policy.

When I first heard he was gonna stop acting for a music career, looking at this picture I thought he was gonna join ZZ Top. Then I heard something about rapping. Dude, no. Just... no. Also, your tattoo is backwards, dumbass

cyan_hit 2009-02-04 05:39:16 PM
GonzoNihilist, i agree. those really are old school hurtin' tunes, and a little bit of lapsteel brings it out brilliantly.

i actually prefer a few of Luther's versions to the original.

(please don't hurt me)

AdolfOliverPanties [TotalFark] 2009-02-04 07:36:36 PM
Thing is, he could remake Atom Heart Mother and it would be an improvement. I bet Gilmour and Waters would even think so.

I too think he was saying he wants to do something as epic as The Wall, not actually do a hiphop version of it.

You know, like when Ozzy says "I still haven't done my Sgt Pepper."

Quotizmo [TotalFark] 2009-02-04 08:31:24 PM
I already heard the Christian Bale meltdown remix. If this guy had one song worth hearing, he would have leaked it onto the internet. If he wants to be taken seriously, take the act to Youtube.

Just one performance--and not one recorded by a cell phone. Dummy. The suspense is stupid.

I knew you when you were Leaf, Joaquin! I know where your weak spots are, and I will fight so farking dirty you'll be cryin' for your momma.

Who I also knew when you were Leaf, and is a lovely woman.

The first thing I have seen posted in 7+ years of farking that made me think:

"I would actually pay money to see that. And not just as a pay-per-view, but live and in person."
