Roy Clark was a freak of nature. The other nominees .... Meh.

I can't think of many country songs as good, and funny as Clark's 'Thank God and Greyhound.'

How long has the Country Hall existed, and, unless it started this year, how is Roy Clark not already in it?

Yeah, that is odd.

Or Barbara Mandrell, for that matter. Wasn't she the biggest country star in the universe for most of the 1980s, with a successful TV variety show with talented sister Louise and her no-talent-half-wit-but-nice-rack sister Irlene?

Didn't Charlie McCoy play on the Ween country album?

The country music hall of fame and museum is awesome. Much better than the grand ol' opry, at least until the reinstate hank.

It is an utter travesty that Roy Clark isn't already in there. Saw him bunches of times when I was a kid and even at 7 or 8 I understood the awesomeness of his talent. My one uncle knew him some, and they'd sit around and pick together. I'm sure that for Roy that was like having to sit around and play Scrabble with a retarded brother but I believe there was some liberal 'shine imbibing going on as well and my uncle WAS better than your garden variety porch picker. My uncle said that literally, if you gave Roy ANYTHING with strings, he'd play it like a virtuoso.

If my dad heard me say "meh" to Charlie McCoy, I would get a justifiable, down home, asswhoopin'.

There aren't a lot of folks that get my dad going when it comes to music. I can only name Charlie Rich, Ernest Tubb, and Carl Smith (he was June Carter's second husband, I believe).

My dad is great, otherwise.

Barbara Mandrell's a freak of nature and a showoff with all them skills...I'm not the biggest fan of her music, though. She is a pretty good singer.

For those who are not familiar with his work. Ol' Roy could pick a little bit:

And yes, Charlie McCoy played on the Ween album ("Oh Charlie"). He also played with Elvis, Patsy Cline, Bob Dylan, Willie and quite a few others.
