Huzzah. Auntie Carolyn's Hangover Remedy just got new life!

Before you go to bed:
3 aspirin (Tylenol doesn't work)
2 multi-vitamin tablets
1 qt. water.

When you wake:
Decent breakfast, including caffeine and some form of juice (No, "just coffee" doesn't count)
More caffeine - pill or liquid, your choice
2 aspirin
1 multi-vitamin
Lots of water throughout the day

You'll be right as rain by noon.

You're doing it wrong.

Besides, zombie hookers are cheaper, anyway. I can guarantee you that. ;)

I can't believe aspirin is still legal.

Well, thanks a lot, NSAID allergy.

Regardless of this story, my liver will continue to get Jack Daniels/Tylenol cocktails and it WILL like it.

Tylenol is getting to be the suicide's drug of choice. A friend of mine who's a custodian in the local school system has had to clean up after two teachers who cashed their chips in.

sarcastrophe 2009-02-01 08:59:08 PM
Well this explains why I haven't had catastrophic liver failure yet.

/only uses aspirin
//fark ibuprofen and acetaminophen
///I just don't know how I could go on without my Pirin tablets

My liver damage can overdrink if it wants.

FTFY. All that other stuff is ballast. If you can hold down a quart of water before going to bed, you'll be fine when you wake up pretty much no matter how much you drank.

Aspirin works better than any thing else I've tried for arthritis pain, but I have to watch how often I take it. It tends to irritate my stomach. Ibuprofen & naproxen sodium work too, but not as fast nor effectively a plain aspirin.

J. W. Booth 2009-02-01 09:12:14 PM
Just make sure it is/is not acetylsalicylic acid and not lysergic acid.

Get that one wrong.. well you'll have more issues at work Monday morning that a headache.

You do not want to spend 6 hours watching your mouse pad breath.

/then again

If aspirin were developed and tested today it likely wouldn't make it out of development because of its side effects.

So what if I take equal amounts of Tylenol and Goody's? Will my liver just quake awhile? Magic fingers liver?

Tylenol accounts for most drug overdoses in the U.S. and other developing countries. It is so toxic that half a bottle can be fatal,

And we give this stuff to CHILDREN!!!!

/why is my weed a Class I drug again?

MrBentor 2009-02-01 09:27:13 PM
I think I now know why my doctor has told me to take 100mg of aspirin every day.

Read: St. Joseph's Chewable / Children's Aspirins.

Prolly cheaper for the same thing as "Bayer's Don't Go Heart Attackin', I love you just the way you are" pills.

Please explain the vinegar comment. I have a bottle that has that smell. I don't take it but instead take the baby aspirin but I do keep it.

That doesn't count as a side effect. That's how it works. Aspirin thins your blood, counteracting the constriction of blood vessels that make your head hurt. If you don't live a healthy lifestyle, your blood is probably too thick. Ask a phlebotomist. If you use blue lipstick for chapped lips, you can't claim "looking like a whore" to be a side effect.

Aspirin is "acetylsalicylic acid",

See here for more info:

Formulations containing high concentrations of aspirin often smell like vinegar. This is because aspirin can decompose through hydrolysis in moist conditions, yielding salicylic acid and acetic acid.

Yeah, but it will help melt a hole in your stomach when taken anywhere near alcohol.

As will aleve and advil.

And tylenol will fark your liver.

So pretty much... umm.. stick with heroin. Good old heroin.

imfallen_angel 2009-02-01 10:34:03 PM
I get migraines on a regular basis...(yippee)

I am sooooo freaking thankful for the new "Aspirin express pack" that melts in your mouth, tastes like cola.

It is the first thing that I've even found that actually works.

Worse case scenario, I have to take some ibuprofen with it, and maybe a second dose 1/2 hour later.

Yeah, if might sound like a lot, but it's the first and only thing that has even worked.

You have facts to back up the alcohol comment? Not being a dick I have never heard that.

It would be Tylenol (acetaminophen) that does serious liver damage.

Not quite. When you piss out all the water, you also piss out the vitamins. So, I'll explain -

Before you go to bed:
3 aspirin (Tylenol doesn't work) - aspirin thins the blood, making you heart work less and compensating for some of the dehydration. Plus, it now appears it's good for the liver.
2 multi-vitamin tablets - because you lose alot fo vitamins in all the pissing you do when drink
1 qt. water. - obvious

When you wake:
Decent breakfast, including caffeine and some form of juice (No, "just coffee" doesn't count) - you need to replace alot of nutrients your body converted to fat or eliminated to make room for the calories of alcohol in the bloodstream.
More caffeine - pill or liquid, your choice - gets you going, which in turn makes you feel better
2 aspirin - for reasons listed above
1 multi-vitamin - again, listed above
Lots of water throughout the day - good advice for anyone, but especially a dehydrated person.

Believe me - Auntie Carolyn knows whereof she speaks.

autothing 2009-02-01 10:50:08 PM
PS - I take that 'baby aspirin' (I'm a big baby, sue me!) and if you read the fine print, aspirin has been proven to only help those WITH PREVIOUS HEART ATTACKS AVOID A RECURRENT HEART ATTACK.

Yes, it's true. Those of us taking this regimen might die the first time around, but our odds are better the SECOND time around. Stupid medication fine print.
