Am I the only one that misses having parks with just a open field of grass and some trees? At most a few park benches? Seriously all those places nearby were turned into a 1 lot park with shiatty lead filled playground equipment and the rest a retention pond. Some with just some huge ugly cheaply built youth clubs that dont really attract anything but child molesters and bums.

I used to live over on Oberlin street -- and friends were on Beacon St. in Worcester. Years of Worcester...yikes. Two significant relationships were with ex-Worcester boys...which is why I am no longer with them.

Too many memories to relate here. Some: Enjoying Clark University computers back when it wasn't illegal. Women peeing in doorways on main street. Old guy I knew shacking up with his niece at night and having kids with her, while spending days with his wife back home on Florence St.. Pimp telling me stories, one about the guy who loved to lie in coffins and watch two women nearby. Seeing Till Tuesday open for Billy Idol over at the Orpheum. Spanish-American restaurants making the best steak and rice dinner I ever had. Feeling of desperation coming out of everywhere.

Worcester would be best plowed under and turned into pasture land.

This. The city itself is much safer than most of the other mid-sized former industrial cities in New England (Bridgeport, New Haven, Hartford, Springfield, Lowell, Providence), but it is just a painfully boring and cynical place.

Even this article was mind-numbingly boring.

Completely unrelated to this article, a landlord stabbed a tenant to death with a machete last night, so Worcester has that going for it.
