Oh, come now, submitter - you really think they can't milk B-b-b-but Bush! for a few more years? Give me a farking break.

He was a godawful president, but these self-righteous prigs need to get over themselves and find something real to write about.

Lack of incompetence is a biatch.

It raises the ultimate question for anyone in my line of work: What's a left-leaning columnist (or satirist, political cartoonist, opinionator, et al) to do without the best and finest target in a lifetime? How will I ever survive without the Shrubster to kick around so effortlessly? Where, pray tell, will I ever find such a wicked wealth of material again?

You could always sit around and help the Republicans implode themselves.

Mordant [TotalFark] 2009-02-01 03:07:10 AM
poor, poor Bush. The world was so unfair to him.

CitizenTed [TotalFark] 2009-02-01 03:17:37 AM
Oh, please. The American NeoCon movement is a cornucopia of deceit, incompetence, hypocrisy and failure. Just because the low-hanging fruit have gone doesn't mean the tree isn't teeming with temptations. You can rest assured that when Obama says "Ahem" into a microphone, the right-wing nut machine will go into full-bloviate mode. They'll compare their "fair and balanced" criticism of Obama's 'Ahem' (was it a sekrit message to Hizbollah?) to the leftists complaining about the Iraq War, the Katrina brain-fart or the Plame Affair. That's how they work. You see it here on Fark, you see it on Faux News and you see it on the Senate floor.

Fear not, liberal columnists. There will continue to be a long backlog of NeoCon craziness for the foreseeable future.

They seem to be doing fine without the help.

PoopStain: Only a liberal would complain about finally holding the torch, however, which is why this article exists.

Did you read it? I didn't see much complaining, so much as:

"Which leads me to my ultimate answer to all those queries, all those who want to know what it feels like to have this wildly generous, epic Republican gravy train lurch off into the sunset once and for all.

I reply thusly: Oh sweet Jesus, thank you, thank you, thank you. And good riddance. I am thrilled that it's over. Like you cannot believe."

A political reporter who has an outspoken political affiliation/leaning is useless to his craft, no matter who is in office. It would like getting your news from an outspoken racist.

This is bullshiat. What did Limbaugh do for the last 8 years? Wishful thinking, ladies.

I am genuinely curious to see what happens when the press realizes that the Presidential Office cannot work miracles. They aren't going to turn on Obama, but they're only going to get two years max blaming everything on Bush.

What do you think Limbaugh did when the Republicans took over. Gloated like a biatch. And then swallowed a ton of pills and farked a ton of Dominican boys.

I amuse myself to no end by being bitterly racist towards white people. If you're white, it's the most fun you'll ever have with other white people. But you have to sell it to really enjoy it.

WOooo generic strawman. If you relied in the debased idiocy of Bush to be your political foil, then you have a poorly developed understanding of political science to begin with.

And I agree.

Most British newspapers have a declared bias for one party or another, but I think they do a decent job. The trick is to not get your news solely from a single source.

MSNBC is definitely liberal, while Fox is clearly conservative. I like to get both views -- the truth is usually somewhere in the middle.

I don't think such thing as an unbiased view can actually exist, though it's nice when there's an attempt (or when the bias is clearly stated, so you you can absorb the information accordingly).

Jim_Callahan 2009-02-01 06:00:32 AM
While coming from anyone else this might be a valid point, Morford has made a career on florid non-sequitir and semi-poetic fluff columns rather than any kind of real satire, so he's not in any real danger. People read his column for gems like:

"Much like working with spent nuclear fuel rods every day, or in an anthrax lab, or a place where they test NASCAR cologne on baby chimps. Spend enough time in that room, you're bound to get cancer."

which sound pretty and are entertainingly acerbic. If anyone actually was paying attention to what he was saying he'd be in trouble, because a lot of what he writes is actually quite retarded if read seriously -- people who work with nuclear waste disposal and anthrax are no more likely to get cancer than anyone else, possibly less likely as they're not in the sun as much.

Not really dissing the guy, but it's the style of his writing and not the content which keeps him employed, and that's a damned good thing for him, since the content's generally borderline nonexistent.

I dunno, they could make fun of Obama riding in the state limo to dinner yesterday while 42 Kentuckians froze to death! Anybody know if FEMA is on the way to rescue them? No? Never heard of Katrina, have you?

Libtards! Your bias is showing!

You could report on a Senator that drive his car into a river and leave a young woman to drown!
Senators and House members that fail to pay taxes on his earnings!
House members that have four rent controlled apartments!

Really? because I read a lot of liberal critics, and they're plenty busy - writing about Obama. Many critically. Many choose to focus on the obstructionist opposition. Some writing on Rush Limbaugh, who is not opposition and only obstructs door ways and some smaller loading docks.

I don't think there's any liberals who feel saddened or feel their job is harder now.

Obama has done more to turn around this country in the past 3 weeks than GWB did in the last two years. This nonsense about "only a liberal would complain" is a bunch of dogshiat...you conservatives have done nothing but complain since Obama was elected. Only a conservative would still talk with such arrogance when their kind has been told by the American people to sit down and stfu (Senate, House and Presidency.....ALL democrat).

Where was your "genuine curiosity" when Georgie boy was farking up the country jackass? Now that the conservatives cant interfere with progress you wait and see how quickly things turn around. Its not miracles, it just that Bush was so pathetic, that normal progress seems like miracles to you.

Seriously, after being completely in the wrong for the past 8 years, what makes you think you have the credibility to comment on anything to do with the direction of the country? The conservatives "held the torch" for 8 years. And what happened? You nearly drove the country into the farking ground.

So, shut the fark up, and let the evil libs clean up your mess.

It's time to separate the real journalists from the low-brow snarks.

I find it interesting how so many "journalists" and columnists have written similar 'now that Obama is in there everything is going to be great' stories. I guess honest reporting flies out the window when you're star-struck.

It's been like reading TeenBeat magazine.

8 years, the media has had to be good little dogs to bush administration propaganda, had political operatives placed into their number (Jeff Gannon?), just to keep their spot and be prevented from being locked out.

I wish the media was ballsier and put the ex-president to the task, but I can understand the fear of doing that.

Now they have a pretty intelligent person who doesn't look with disgust at public inquiry, but he's no where near the "story" machine his predecessor is.

There'll be a split. Some will be happy to report what's going on and that's all. Then some will try to twist it.

And then there's you. I can't really figure out your view, so I must assume the view from your ass must be very entertaining. Because your head is wedged up there rather tight.

I wonder if any of the Kentucky- or other frozen areas have seen FEMA lately?
Half a million homes and business's still without power 5 days later and FEMA spokeswoman Mary Hudak said Friday, "the roads were bad."

Well, at least this guy managed to wrangle yet another column out of a vanished foe. I have no doubt the leftist kvetchfest will find new Republican targets rather than swivel its attention to The One. The last couple of days it's been about Michael Steele, the new chair of the RNC, who's pretty much been portrayed as a GOP lawn jockey by the classy folks on the sinister side of the political spectrum.

I'm not up on conditions in Kentucky, but a couple of years ago we had 2 weeks without power in December here in St. Louis. At the time, I was grateful that FEMA did NOT put in an appearance.

Now I guess they're keeping all the trees trimmed back, because I've heard nothing about power problems here.
