Pot doesn't kill people, guns do.

clifton [TotalFark] 2009-01-31 03:31:59 PM
These asses should've stuck with something that's 100% safer, like alcohol.

BoneStorm 2009-01-31 03:34:08 PM
it appears from the story that a man hurt and killed those mounties, not a pot plant.

it looks like the dude responsible is going down, so at least there's that.

queezyweezel 2009-01-31 03:35:51 PM
Hmmm. Legalize it and nobody else dies.

Would they have been killed if there wasn't a grow-op there?

If pot were legal they wouldn't have been there at all. The black market put the cops in a dangerous situation, and a crazy asshole killed them.

This About That [TotalFark] 2009-01-31 04:17:47 PM
The pot did not kill those officers. A criminal, out for revenge, killed them. The post was involved only because the ridiculous prohibition has create an astoundingly lucrative market for circumventing the prohibition. It doesn't matter what the thing being prohibited is. Want to prevent more of this kind of thing, worldwide? The answer is obvious.

the dude responsible is dead , case closed, the guys in this story drove him to his property and gave him a rifle that was not used in these killings. Kind of smacks of scapegoating but these morons should have had the balls to say screw you to Roscoe, so they are getting the time they deserve for being pussies

That's all Cheeseman ever does. Rides in the car and eats. Freakin stoner.

This.
Plus, for the record, The Province (aka The PornVice) is the print equivalent of FOX News.
It's the regional retard-level paper. Their cover story is always one of:
a) omg! tax going up $1!!!
b) omg! local sports team wins/loses game!!!
c) omg! crime crime crime!!!
d) omg! heartbreaking sick child tragedy!!!

shaft6969 [TotalFark] 2009-01-31 05:08:40 PM
yep, pot didn't kill the cops. the criminalization of pot did, however.

So when they beat the shiat out of you for minding your own business, blame society.

This headline is hurting my head.

Teafortwo 2009-01-31 05:42:41 PM
Yeah, the cops were heroes who gave their life so that what we agree as being just for our societies' members.

However, they didn't die because of pot.

Wrong_Intentions 2009-01-31 05:44:13 PM
Pot or no pot, the ambush-murder of four police officers is the sort of case that needs a death penalty.

brainiac-dumdum [TotalFark] 2009-01-31 05:46:08 PM
It was the fact that herb is illegal that led to the deaths of these police officers.

If it were legal, herb would not command such a high price and there would be no reason to kill over it.

Wrong_Intentions: Pot or no pot, the ambush-murder of four police officers is the sort of case that needs a death penalty.

themetalking 2009-01-31 05:46:30 PM
I believe we should legalize pot, but anyone who thinks it can't have a violent effect on someone is wrong.

I had a roommate who was a total pot head, smoked 5 - 10 times a day. One time our other roommate took his stash and he got so pissed off he went into a rage and threw a Foosball table across our living room. He was throwing shiat around for an hour before he found his backup which calmed him back down. So it is habit forming, it can cause aggression when going through withdrawal just like any other drug, but I still think it should be legal. I just want to set the facts straight.

Inconceivable! [TotalFark] 2009-01-31 05:47:02 PM
If it wasn't pot, it would be heroin, if it wasn't heroin it would be meth, if it wasn't meth, maybe the crazy asshole was molested as a child, if he wasn't molested, maybe he was bullied and beaten, etc etc etc.

It doesn't matter what it was about, this crazy motha ucker decided to uck with the RCMP shiat by killin em, bottom line.

Dustin_00 2009-01-31 05:47:09 PM
Drug policy gone mad killed the officers.

End the war. It's the least effective method of drug control.

FTFA: Hennessey, 29, and Cheeseman, 25, both pleaded guilty on Jan. 19 to four counts of manslaughter in the March 3, 2005, deaths of Const. Anthony Gordon, Const. Leo Johnston, Const. Brock Myrol and Const. Peter Schiemann.

It doesn't say "Pot pleaded guilty...".
The illegality of pot made it a necessity for these men to commit the crimes they did (If it wasn't illegal, it wouldn't be worth becoming a cop killer over).

Pot, itself had nothing to do with it.
///uberfail, subby. -1.

I think your roommate was just an asshole. He got mad at someone for stealing something of value form him. Violent people are violent w/ or w/o pot. Non-violent people the same. Wouldn't he have been just as mad had someone stolen $100 from him?

When people try to take away your liberty because of a plant people get really pissed off, people rage and some people deserve what they get, not saying I condone Murder, I just understand how pissed off and miserable these guys must have been because of asinie laws, people dying and killing because of a harmless plant. Your roommate was a dick not addicted. The worst reaction I think I have ever had to being dry was, "Oh, I'm out. I think I'll spend a few days working out to get rid of the munchie weight I gained"

Two of the officers where from here, the local media tried to spin the pot angle but the fact is that the pot had very little to do with it. James Rosco was a psychopath looking to kill cops. There is a simple way to stop criminals from growing pot LEGALIZE IT!

spazzm 2009-01-31 05:58:35 PM
So if people are killed by people trafficing in a drug, that drug is responsible for the deaths, and the drug must be banned? Is that the rationale, or am I misreading the headline?

If this is the correct interpretation, I guess we should ban one more drug.

Legalise it already.

So, by your argument, I can safely say that anyone who does not smoke marijuana is a complete dumbf*ck, who has no ability to think logically.

I mean, I'm not so stupid as to actually BELIEVE that, but you?

I once killed a man's son and he went on a violent rampage.

Perhaps we should outlaw having sons.

You libs never cease to amaze me. Cue all the 30 year olds living in mom's basement claiming they smoke 5 bongs a day and simultaneously maintain their $60,000 salary as an aeronautical engineer and their 4.7 GPA in the quest for their PHD. Next you're going to tell me how awesome Carl Sagan was and how that justifies you acting like shiftless layabouts for your entire adult lives. Oh, right, and then you'll whine about how dangerous booze is and how it causes more damage so pot should be legal. Real flawless logic there. Why don't you go back to your Doritos and fry your brain to Robot Chicken and let real men make the decisions.
