In a letter to the band, Martin said Eno wrote: "'Viva La Vida...' (Coldplay's 2008 album) was good. But I know that you can do better."

so martin's on timeout?

Jesus Christ, subby. I see you've fallen for that bullshiat too. As if there was ANY WAY an amazing group of artists like Coldplay would need to copy a two-bit hack like Joe Satri-whoever. Grow a brain.

That's a shame for Chris. Now he's got nothing to do with his time except enthusiastically and repeatedly plow Gwyenth Paltrow in every conceivable orifice.

/he's probably really sad about that

Pfft... Saying that Coldplay are "amazing" is like saying Anne Frank was a master marksman.

They actually ripped off Joe Satriani who ripped off Alizee Jacotey. This is the real victim:

What the hell is he wearing? If any normal human was wearing that shiat, they'd be ridiculed. I know, I know, he's a "rock star." But shoot, he doesn't even look cool. It's like he doesn't want you to listen to his opinions, because he looks retarded.

Love the music though. Just wish he didn't let the fame go to his head.

I have no idea who that girl is, but I want to put my male parts into her female parts. Please tell me she's over 18

Sweet, good to hear she's over 18. Oh, and I'm married too, so we're obviously made for each other!!

I looked up Joe Satriani, subby and Coldplay sounds NOTHING like him.
I mean, they are obviously ripping off someone (answer at end of post), but it is not Joe Satriani.

Really? Those sound nothing alike to you?

Sweet mother of God, it's a coincidence. I don't get it. People shouldn't think that out of the, what, 12 notes notes to choose from, that arranging them some way makes them yours and only yours, forever and ever.

milowitz 2009-01-31 08:16:56 AM
Yes a strange coincidence. A very alike, amost identical arrangement that sounds exactly the same. Hmm.

Ilmarinen 2009-01-31 09:24:46 AM
You have to hand it to them: they manage to rip off at least 2 or 3 other artists in just one song and still get away with it.

Funnily enough, the in itself rather boring Viva la Vida actually sounds sorta nice with Joe Satriani's guitar part.

No idea? Seriously? Hell, there's even an ASCII-art version of this dance. And the female Night Elf dance in World of Warcraft is based on this.

*sigh* Doesn't the Coldplay/Nickelback bashing get boring after a while? Years from now they'll be remembered as great bands, and we'll be complaining about how the music of the 2020s doesn't hold a candle to those good ol' days in the '00s.

Steve Vai & Eric Johnson are filing pre-emptive lawsuits just in case.

They'll be remembered as bands who had great commercial success, like the Bee Gees and Abba. They won't be remembered as "great bands" by anyone except people who know nothing about music.

lol, uh no. Sure, you could accidentally come up with the same notes played about the same way, but the number of permutations is astonishing, and Coldplay's version is so similar you can actually play it along with the Satriani song, and they match PERFECTLY. Notes, melody, rhythm, even the tempo for goodness sake. Check it out on YouTube if you haven't already.

Coincidence doesn't explain a perfect match. They stole - deal with it.
