Well, it seems Turkey has joined the ranks of the Jew-loathing societies in Europe and the Middle-east.

It's not about the Palestinians. The Arabs, Turks and Europeans would not give a crap if another Arab state massacred the Palestinians into oblivion.

They just hate Jews.

The United States also actively supports Turkey's membership bid to join the European Union, lobbying frequently on behalf of Ankara through its diplomatic missions in EU capital cities. In June 2008, The United States and Turkey began to cooperate on peaceful uses of nuclear energy with a pact that aims for the transfer of technology, material, reactors and components for nuclear research and nuclear power production in Turkey for an initial 15-year period followed by automatic renewals in five-year increments that provides a comprehensive framework for peaceful nuclear cooperation between the two nations under the agreed non-proliferation conditions and controls. A parallel U.S. bipartisan resolution has recently highlighted the importance for Turkish Republic's key role in providing her western (EU and US) and regional allies Eurasian energy security.

I never said criticism of Israel, I said Anti-Israeli feeling.

Where are all these protestors for Dafur?

Where were they when Hamas was slaughtering Fatah supporters? Or when Palestinians were being cleansed from Iraq a few years ago?

Is there a "Tatsuma" for Darfur? For Fatah? Hamas?

No? Then that should explain the lack of debate on those issues. Nobody justifies the actions of Fatah, Hamas, or Janjaweed, or the Sudanese government. Hence, no debate.

As for protests against the genocide in Darfur, there have been plenty.

If you're concerned with Fark, then just wait for the day when there is a moron who is capable of whitewashing the Darfur genocides and able to convince a gullible minority of racist hawks to join him, then you'll see a debate on Fark.

Thankfully, there is no one stupid enough, or talented enough, to convince Farkers that such an attempt at whitewashing is sincere.

Whitewashing the Gaza situation is entirely plausible, given US involvement in supplying aid to Israel. Not only is it plausible, but it is necessary for the Gaza situation to be whitewashed in US media in order to avoid unwanted criticism of US involvement. That's a lot of weapons and a lot of money.

How Israel uses its weapons should be of considerable concern since the US would likely be included in any blowback from the misuse of military force.

Darconix: Jihad? Christians have had nukes for decades and managed not to obliterate themselves. Muslims have had dynamite for about the same amount of time and have used it repeatedly to strap to themselves on suicide runs. Muslims are mentally unstable. Keeping nukes out of their hands should be a priority for the human race.

You're clearly an idiot, I gave you a chance to defend yourself, and you completely shiat the bed.

Then, how much of the criticism of Israel is due to "anti-Israeli" feeling? Or, how many fark debates are due to "anti-Israeli" feeling as opposed to humanitarian concerns over their management of the assault on Gaza?

How much "anti-arab" feeling is there on fark? How much "anti-Palestinian" feeling? I've seen far more generalizations and stereotyping of Palestinians than of Israelis.

Erm yes, yes you did. And you were replying to my comment that Europeans must hate jews now because you said we did. And I presume you are basing that assumption on the fact that European governments and citizens criticised Israel's recent actions as being heavy-handed. I myself criticised those actions because I see them as counter-productive, not because of any anti-Isreali feeling. I want them to find peace with their neighbours, but I don't think that responding with overwhelming force at great civilian cost is going to achieve peace, rather it will prolong conflict. I think you'll find the vast majority of Europeans who criticise Israel's military actions feel the same way. There are many Americans who feel the same way too. I'm surprised you haven't met any.

submitted this with a crappy headline, but thought this was kinda nice and friendly way to welcome him home:

Istanbul, 29 January - Thousands of citizens carrying Turkish and Palestinian flags stormed the Ataturk Airport of Istanbul to welcome Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan upon his return home from the World Economic Forum in Davos, from which he had walked out in protest for not having been given the same time granted to the Israeli President.

At Erdogan's arrival at the airport, thousands of citizens, headed by Istanbul's mayor Kadir Topbas awaited him carrying banners hailing him as "Leader of the World", and affirming "Turkey is proud of you". Heading towards his residence in Istanbul, the Prime Minister found the road leading to his house covered with red carnations. To celebrate him, the Istanbul Municipality ordered public commutation to keep operating until 3 am and to transport people to and from the airport free of charge.

Apikoros: Conflating the two is an acceptable way for Israel Firsters to delfect criticism of what most of the world sees as a rogue, racist nation.

And yet criticism of the entire Arab world as "untrustworthy" and "only understand violence as a negotiation tool" is somehow seen as a mainstream viewpoint.

Personally, I find it telling that there's FAR more dissent IN Israel by Israelis about Israel's policies in the Occupied Territories, than there is in the USA.

And yet the USA funds the entire military and provides Israel with international protection (vetoing UN resolutions against the Occupation, enabling expansion of settlements, etc).

Good news is that the USA is finally waking up.

In the 80s I used to get great meat sticks from a Greek guy named Steve who kept his cart in the Port Authority Bus Terminal garage. Fresh lamb every day - no mystery meat at all. The hookers used to, well, trade him for the meat.
