Let the name of Blagojevich be stricken from every book and tablet, stricken from all pylons and obelisks, stricken from every monument of Illinois. Let the name of Blagojevich be unheard and unspoken, erased from the memory of men for all time.

So let it be written, so let it be done.

No shiat. I wonder how much that labor will cost IL taxpayers? Or maybe they'll just raise the already outrageous tolls to pay for it.

Next step is to boil everything in the office and call in the exorcist.

Knowing how much Blago was hated by the State workers in the capital, I am sure they would have done it for free.

It completely escapes me what Blogs was trying to accomplish. Every action he took after the feds arrested him seemed calculated to make him look like an idiot and increase his chances of being removed from office.

Incidentally, I never feel comfortable in states where the governor's name is on the road signs at the border.

So does this mean he's going to go hang out in Arizona for a couple years, then come back and unleash the Ten Plagues of Chicago?

By the way, why is it that governor's names have to be on those signs anyway? It seems like such a waste of time and money to have to changes those "Welcome to Our State. Governor: Thomas J. Carcetti" every time there's an election.

The sign removal/covering is already underway for the toll signs, they are waiting to do ti at night when the traffic disruption is less. I told them they should ebay chances to erase Blago's name off all the state buildings and etc. to rasie cash for the general revenue fund. I'd pay for the chance to take a scraper to some of those, legally.

Korovyov [TotalFark] 2009-01-30 11:36:47 AM
Given what he's accused of, his name being on toll-road signs seems rather appropriate.

Any Pie Left 2009-01-30 11:41:19 AM
Fun fact: there is a gallery of oil paintings in one hallway of the Illinois capitol building, every governor is there, including current jailbird George Ryan. The paintings go up after the subject is no longer governor, in a big ceremony. And yes,the one for George Ryan's portrait was a bit awkward, however, you can't deny history, and so, eventually, an official oil portrait of Rod Blagojevich will go up on that wall as well. THAT is going to define the word: "Awkward".

I want it painted by the guy that did the portarait of Warden Patrick McGoohan in "Escape from Alcatraz". If he can get the beedy little ferret eyes with their psycho glint just right....

They should take those tollroad signs and post them at all four corners of the Capitol as a warning to all future governors, given that drawing and quartering the guilty has fallen out of fashion.

But wait, if you're striking the name, and writing down the order to strike the name, doesn't that sort of defeat the purpose? Or will the written order read "Let the name of be stricken from every book and tablet..."? Because that could get real confusing real fast.

Not to mention you can't even speak the name aloud to tell people whose name they're not supposed to speak.

... Pathetic as it is, they're still better than the Republicans. I learned from the GOP that when one of your men leeks the identity of an undercover agent in the field you never have to see the inside of jail cell.

And, in fact, the house Democratic minority voted to strip Jefferson of his committee assignments within three weeks of the FBI raid on his office in 2006, which was about all they had the power to do. It was up to his constituents to fire him - which they somehow failed to do until 2008.

Rangel, well, the House Ethics Committee supposedly been investigating him since last year. I don't know what it'll take to unseat him.
