Award yourself a FAIL. Peart is steady. Too steady. So steady he lacks anything resembling a groove because all his hits will land with MIDI-precision in exact divisions of the beat.

/would love to hear "Cut to the chase" with a drummer that knows how to play a little behind the beat.

Whatever, dude. I wasn't a fan at all until I caught them live and they were farking amazing. Yes, she played a somewhat minor role in the band but who cares. Jack White has more talent in his pinkie than your three favorite bands combined.

To paraphrase another farker in a drummer thread.
"Neil Peart is an incredible drummer! Too bad you gotta listen to Rush to hear it."

I don't hate Rush. I just don't see why the fans get so bent outta shape when you don't agree that they're the greatest.

I don't know if you're trolling or not here, but the other three were lucky to get him at the start as he was already better known and working regularly with Rory Storm. Ringo actually has dead on timing and was instrumental in developing the whole Mersey Beat sound. FOr some reason his work during a time of 2 minute songs is compared to the work Cream would do almost a decade later. He rocked on Abbey Road.

Well, I was kind of half-trolling - based on the fact that most people's idea of a good drummer is someone who can keep a double bass going at 220 bpm 16th notes or throw as many tom hits into a fill as possible. Ringo's timing is excellent, very laid back, and a drummer like Bonham or Moon never would have worked out for what the Beatles were doing. Tastiness, groove, restraint, and band chemistry are far more important ingredients to good drumming than pure technical skill. However, being unquantifiable, a non-musician is less likely to consciously take those things into account.

I was thinking more along the lines of a Neil Young quote I had heard. Neil was doing a 'We are the World' thing with David Foster and after he sings his part Foster says, "Hey, Neil that was a little flat." To which Neil replied, "That's my style, man."
Simple and honest over complicated and passionless any day.

Beat me to it. If that isn't Bozzio's kit, someone is sure as hell trying to replicate it.

For the uninformed, Terry Bozzio can play any damn kit he chooses to put together, no matter how many pieces it has.

And if that is indeed Bozzio's kit, then those toms are tuned chromatically.
