They should get something tangible for all those campaign contributions.

Not quite a hitler, a little less evil and he will be there.

Nice! And here I thought, "Yeah, but I'll never find the right image."

Now we just need a nice "whirl whirl twist and twirl. Jump around like a flying squirrel" reference.

TFA: Some 76 percent of 1,000 people surveyed by pollster Forsa for weekly magazine Stern said Germany needed a politician with the same sort of charisma as the new American leader.

Germans yearn for a charismatic young leader amidst a global economic recession?

I think I've read this story before. Can't remember how it turns out.

If they want one so bad, why don't they just make one? You know the Germans make good stuff.

I've never been into the personality cult of Obama because I don't particularly like his religious views but I must say it is very nice to hear "President Obama" used in casual conversation.

Most Turks living in Germany are the descendants of participants in a "guest worker" programme in the 1960s that recruited Turkish labourers to do work Germans refused to perform.

So the Turkish are kinda like Mexicans here?

You mean 23 percent. Math much?

47% and growing. Libs aren't known for the mathematical capabilities, obviously. You'd rather just "feel" your way through it, and ignore evidence to the contrary.

Gallup shows him at 64 percent job approval. You do know that 64>49, right?

tedbundee 2009-01-29 01:06:36 PM
former Chancellor Gerhard Schröder said Germany should appoint a cabinet minister from the country's large Turkish minority in the name of diversity.

So what, its trendy to have minorities in power?

/also: You guys should remember what happened last time a foreigner was in power

No, I don't bother responding to an obvious political hack. I realized it was smeegle after I posted my Weeners. 47% of the population would have preferred McCain to Obama. I think that's a valid point of reference, and far better than Bush's historical approval rating from a year and a half ago or quite frankly anything else Miss P. Hack likes to reference.

Germany can have Obama.

You are a slick little liar. Face it you didn't respond because you knew I would call you out for your BS and pawn your ass as usual.

Back in the basement with you.

Don't know about the Turks, but I know that Germans are very friendly to black people nowadays. There are lots of African Americans stationed there at U.S. military bases. The last time I visited Heidelberg, there was a popular club act called The Chocobabies--a group of mixed-race kids who lip-synched to r-and-b tunes.

Yes, take ours.

Before the fail gets too deep. We'll carry on with President Gaffe Machine Biden.

We're used to that sort of thing.

Wolframkerngeschoss [TotalFark] 2009-01-29 02:40:00 PM
What Germans really say when they're answering to a poll like this: we are tired of the same old partys and faces in politics.

No one here knew Obama before Iowa and now he's probably the most popular guy on Earth, that's like the definition of the American Dream for us (yup, it's alive again).

Anyway, won't happen. We don't elect the Chancellor, we vote for parties, so we only get the same old boring leaders that worked their way up through the party for decades.
