I pretty much hate every band named after a location with the exception of Calexico.

I guess I am the only person who had hopes for a National Geographic produced series of ambient field recordings along the lines of some of Chris Watson's material. Or perhaps like Geir Jenssen's (Biosphere) "Cho Oyu 8201m - Field Recordings From Tibet" which was absolutely brilliant.

Instead, now I'm getting images of National Geographic kiosks in your local Wal-Mart, with "Pan Flutes of South America Vol. 49" playing over a tinny speaker.

Or the inevitable Yanni, Kenny G, and John Tesh collaboration album, which will break open the seventh seal and damn us all.

Am I the only one old enough to remember when the magazine would sometimes have a record in it? Real thin and flexible, more like a sheet than a disk. Moon landings and other shiat

Yeah, I had some of those. Very ridiculous to listen to now, but they had a real charm. Tons of interesting samples to be had on them.
