Man, Clinton. What a great follow up! I mean, its obvious to everyone why you can't make that joke, but it was good of him to make light of it.

absoluteparanoia 2009-01-28 01:49:09 PM
That was actually quite funny.

I would love to see H.W. scolding his son in public. Like a dad whose son flunked out of community college and now lives in the basement.

"Shut up George and go get me a beer."

The real funny is looking at who Bush married: George Washington's head grafted onto Taft's body with woman parts from Betsy Ross.

I'm sure he's told that story a hundred times and it never got much of a reaction.

In fact, I looked and here's a story from 2004 where he told that joke at the televised Al Smith dinner.

From his momma, who muttered something like "Y'all have it better now than before" to Hurricane Katrina victims displaced to the Astrodome.... that's is where he got his sense of humor and public speaking ability.

The crazy thing is, do any pictures exist where that woman doesn't look exactly the same as she does now? I mean I was 10 when she was first lady and she looks the same now as she did then. I think she was born an old, ugly woman.

The joke was pretty good, as was clintons followup. Sounds like some people have some sand in their vaginas.

It's not offensive enough to be entertaining purely on that level and not good enough to really be remarkable. Kinda like his presidency if you think about it...

I really don't know. Maybe it was the eleven months he spent in the womb. The doctor said there were claw marks on the walls of her uterus. But he was her "miracle baby." And I-I was just too burnt out on raising you guys to care. So... he turned out a little soft, you know, a little doughy.

I don't think you realize that Wonkette posters don't generally take stuff like that seriously either. Also, isn't there a thread right next to this one where the submitter is complaining about Obama's DC snow joke?

Oh, me? Well, I'm a political atheist; an equal opportunity hater when it comes to politicians and pundits.

/I'm just saying that the joke was funny and the Wonkette headline and faux-indignation is ridiculous.

As a feminist myself, I have to ask what was Feministing expecting?

Guess what, the Bush family is was farked up.

You'd think that Barbara would be a feminist herself, you know looking as manly as she does.

Reminds me of a story from. . . I think it was Al Franken (it could be Hunter S Thompson, I read a couple of their books back to back, but I'm pretty sure it was Franken), where he talks about how he always thought she seemed like such a nice, grandmotherly person and met her and she was a total biatch. And everyone he knew laughed at him and said that it was pretty common knowledge that she was nasty to be around.

I prefer George Carlin's version of the joke:

Why is it that most of the people who are against abortion are people you wouldn't want to fark in the first place?

It was Franken. Pretty sure it was in Lying Liars. Their encounter took place on a plane IIRC. Franken said something about 2 of her sons being governers, and how she must be sooo proud. Barb sniped back that she was proud of all of her sons (including the ones who weren't governors).

Uzzah 2009-01-28 06:06:33 PM
God help me, but I'm just not getting this.

GHWB: An ugly woman runs up with a sign saying "Get out of my womb." I said, "No problem, lady."

In other words, he doesn't want to fark her. But isn't that already implicit when he says she's ugly and nasty? That's not really a "joke," it's just saying that he would have behaved in an entirely expected manner given what he had just described. Maybe if he had said, "I'm not going to describe this woman to you, but when I saw her sign that said 'Get out of my womb,' I thought..." it would've been a joke.

And then Clinton: "I couldn't get away with telling a joke like that."

I'm missing this, too. Is it funny because people assume Clinton would be willing to fark some "ugly and nasty" woman? Is that a Monica Lewinsky joke (which is what I assume from the 'cheated on his wife' comment) or a Hillary Clinton joke (um.. did he just imply in a public speech that he thinks of his wife as "ugly and nasty"?), or something else entirely?

Where's the joke?
