It's not the
Fab Faux?

Then I'm totally unimpressed. This group has Paul's seal of approval.

I mean come on, they do Tomorrow Never Knows.

Let's see if I can explain it to you, then... Got any top 40 tunes to your own credit? How 'bout number 1s? Before, say, age 30, that is. Anything?

Everyone involved was shocked and stunned.

Yep. I think this Mansfield guy was the Beatles contact at Capitol Records...really didn't have much to do with them at all.

On another Epstein-related note....a while back I had heard that Jude Law was working on a film about Brian. Any word on it's progress?

Does anyone actually say "spiffy" anymore? I think this tag needs to go away. Not everyone lives in Kentucky.

I just skimmed through a tribute band book, and it had a beatles section. there was a group called The Cavern Beatles. they had a pic like the "beatles for sale" pic. they looked a hell of a lot alike, especially the "paul" guy and the "john" guy.

here's a pic. sorry it isn't bigger. it's the largest / best one i could find.

You may be a "Pianist/keyboardist/drummer", but you don't know much about music.

It's all about CONTEXT, dudes.

Anybody can look back a decade or four from the Beatle's heyday
and say "What's the big deal?" while half the tunes on your MEpod are likely direct descendents of what the Beatles laid down.

In a strange case of life imitating art imitating life, that's EXACTLY what Paul McCartney said when asked for a reaction to Lennon's murder.

The Beatles also picked up the "cup of tea" from the Rutles. If you watch the Anthology, you'll notice George uses it quite frequently.

You know something, I don't much like the Beatles or the hype surrounding them much myself. I won't deny what they did for music overall, but for the love of all that is good and holy in this world - they were/are not the greatest band that ever picked up instruments. If it wasn't them, it would have been one of a dozen similar sounding bands of the day.

Besides, for what it's worth, I always thought that The Kinks were a hundred times better. The Village Green Preservation Society is a much better album then Sgt Pepper, IMO.

Hype? This is not hype:
"During the week of 4 April 1964, The Beatles held twelve positions on Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, including the top five positions, which has never been accomplished by any other band or artist to date. The songs were "Can't Buy Me Love" (Capitol Records), "Twist and Shout" (Tollie Records), "She Loves You" (Swan Records), "I Want to Hold Your Hand" (Capitol), and "Please Please Me" (Vee-Jay).[1] In addition, seven other singles occupied lower places on the chart: "I Saw Her Standing There" (Capitol), "You Can't Do That" (Capitol), "All My Loving" (Capitol of Canada), "Roll Over Beethoven" (Capitol of Canada), "From Me To You" (Vee-Jay), "Do You Want To Know A Secret" (Vee-Jay) and "Thank You Girl" (Vee-Jay)."

/When you have the top 5 songs on Billboard and 7 others in the top 100, you can complain about "hype".
