Sounds more like "not enough people in Japan care about Janet Jackson to overpay for her show." than the economy boogeyman.

Next month is a HUGE month for Western artists coming to Japan - all of my friends are going apeshiat over Fall Out Boy and Coldplay and one or two others. Coldplay even added 2 or 3 shows after the first set sold out so quickly.

Japanese fans will go see just about anything, so if you can't sell out a big venue as a legendary American artist then it's time you gracefully faded to retirement.
