Time to ban Monster Truck rallies I guess.

Benevolent Misanthrope [TotalFark] 2009-01-25 02:43:35 PM
The newspaper reported that organizers immediately halted the remainder of the show.

As opposed to this guy's last show, where the show went on after a 6-year-old was killed.

Great god that headline made me LOL.

From TFA:

"This is our 16th year, and I wish I had a big piece of wood to knock on right now, but we have not had an incident besides a gal slipping in the aisle at another location," Eisenhart said Friday, according to a transcript provided by WKOW TV in Madison. "That's been all."

Curse that lack of wood.

I've always said that I wouldn't be caught dead at a monster truck rally, but lately it appears more likely than I think.

Eisenhart spoke to reporters on Friday about his group's safety record, in light of last week's deadly accident in the Tacoma Dome.

"This is our 16th year, and I wish I had a big piece of wood to knock on right now, but we have not had an incident besides a gal slipping in the aisle at another location," Eisenhart said Friday, according to a transcript provided by WKOW TV in Madison. "That's been all."

Would this be irony?

Bob Ondeeznuts 2009-01-25 03:01:27 PM
Big gigantic truck jumping over dirt hills and cars in an enclosed arena with thousands of people in the stands. I'm not surprised shiat like this doesn't happen more often.

Kaymon: Curse that lack of wood.

In other news, a GIS for "low hanging fruit" doesn't have an image that quite carries off the message. At least not with safe search on, and I'm sure as hell not going to turn it off for that term.

How the fark do you fail to see a MONSTER TRUCK coming at you?

Dumb-Ass-Monkey [TotalFark] 2009-01-25 03:06:17 PM
why would anyone walk onto the track DURING the show?

Even if you didn't know there was a truck coming right at you, you'd have to know that there were truck driving on the course.

Instant karma.

The way they handled the Tacoma incident was bullshiat, and the man upstairs agreed.

aspAddict 2009-01-25 03:09:31 PM
They really need to ban this stupid crap. No one but rednecks and retards ever go to watch it anyway, and Im sure they could be just as entertained watching their bugzappers and drinking PBR all afternoon.

Monster truck rallies do nothing to further our society and are a disgrace to this great country, as well as contributing to global warming unnecessarily.

Additionally, with the internet being as prolific as it is, I'm sure that Muslim countries have access to footage on Youtube and other video hosting sites, so it can be argued that monster truck rallies are a contributing factor to 9/11.

The only type of people that could possibly enjoy monster trucks are the same ones that put Bush in the White House for two terms and flushed this country down the crapper. Mission Accomplished, indeed.

/Did I miss anything? :)

RealFarknMcCoy2 2009-01-25 03:21:50 PM
I came in here to see if anyone said "He died doing what he loved." and was sorely disappointed....

Even if he wasn't the same promoter who went ahead with the show in Tacoma after a 6-year-old died, he was a monster truck show promoter, and for the commercials alone, it was Karma.

almandot 2009-01-25 03:27:11 PM

"He just walked out in front of it," Murray said. "There's no way either one could have seen the other."

It's so true. This guy could never have known that drivers he hired were racing around a track he built in giant cars he bought at the time he specified.

Seriously, why isn't this being labeled an obvious suicide? Am I missing something?

/No. I'm not.
