FTFA: A 42-year-old West Virginia man died from a gunshot wound in the stomach early Saturday after playing a game of quick draw at a home in the Falls Mills area of Tazewell County, Sheriff H.S. Caudill said Saturday... "What was really surprising was that there didn't seem to be any alcohol at all," Caudill said Saturday. "No drugs, no guns, it was very different, very surprising."

Bullets apparently materialize out of then ends of fingers in Falls Mills.

After the shooting, deputies arrested Randy Miller Howerton, 31, of Bluefield, Va., who was participating in the game. Howerton was charged with manslaughter, shooting a gun in an occupied dwelling and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon . . . "No drugs, no guns, it was very different, very surprising."

That IS very different and surprising. Wow.

And is this really "FAIL" as the tag implies? I mean, I think they really succeeded here. They played quickdraw and one man won. Was there another expected outcome?

Given that neither one had guns, I'd say most definitely they didnt expect this outcome.

GoldenEye 64, stacks. Pistols, 1 shot kills.

No crosshairs allowed, and you can only have 1 bullet in your clip.

His aim was to shoot fat Irving down.
Bad Max said, 'Draw, and draw right now!'
And Irving drew, drew a picture of a cow."

Maybe I'm alone in feeling this way, but felons who get caught with a gun, especially a handgun, should go to prison for life.

I'm about as pro-gun as they come... and I completely agree.

to be fair about it, at least one of them followed subbie's advice.

/I say that we need to encourage quick-draw as a legitimate sport. If you are dumb enough to play, we're probably better off without you genes in the pool.

StokeyBob 2009-01-25 03:54:56 PM
The label of felon is thrown around pretty loosely in this country.

Besides the lawlessness is in this once great nation are in such a state I can't help thinking that law and order could be served better if everyone was allowed their guns back. Felons included.

The infringement is partly to blame for getting us where were at, in my estimation.

Well that actually deserves the ironic tag doesn't it?

This was in West Virginia, north of DC. I don't think you have anything to be concerned about.

The best duel I saw on a western was episode 1 of deadwood (which wasn't technically a duel, since there were 3 people involved). They seemed to change directions a bit after that (everyone said they loved episode 2 more than the pilot).. I still loved the show, but I always missed the stuff like that..

Man, this is cool. Stone cold sober. Dude wasn't sure if the other gun might have bullets in it, so he pulled the trigger on his own. Picture the scene immediately after. The 911 call. The realization mixed with the disbelief mixed with the panic and the screaming women. Thinking back on the last few years while they drove him to booking, wondering if the dude has payback type family members. Last haircut for a while, last decent meal. Amy could have written this one up in-depth.

StokeyBob: The label of felon is thrown around pretty loosely in this country.

Yeah, its really not that hard to be convicted of a felony sometimes. My best friend is a "convicted felon"... the magnetic key scanner thing at his apartment complex stopped working one night, and he and several other people were unable to enter the complex. He apparently damaged the gate motor somehow when they tried to figure out a way to open the gate manually. "Criminal damaging"... felony conviction, but no jail time.

Sucks.

I've participated in this game before.

With Splatmasters (new window).

I am not quick on the draw. At least not as quick as my opponent.
