Eddie Adams from Torrance: That's odd. They seemed to have little trouble getting people to hate President Bush.

What on earth can Bush have done to piss off Muslim opinion on the street?

/ Actually, as I understand it, most of Muslim public opinion around the world is getting to regard Al-Qaeda as a bunch of mouthy troublesome ass-pains. History shows this is normally how terrorist causes fizzle out.

// For younger farkers who don't remember the 1990's - the normal state of things is that people around the world (including Mohammed al-Schmo) find individual Americans loud and obnoxious, but at the same time find the concept of America (McDonalds, Hollywood, freedom of expression, yada yada) amazingly attractive and cool. You have to try pretty hard to counter that. Bush managed.

They're all just scrabbling around their caves in a panic, going "Oh no, our enemy is gone, we need a new one, STAT!"

The next couple of years are going to be very interesting and Obama sure is gonna be busy! Let's just hope that the Muslim nations tire of the whole thing and tear up the terrorists themselves.

I can just imagine a group of Muslim emo teenagers coming up to Bin Laden, going "You know, that whole war thing is just so, like, you know, toootally three weeks ago!" *BLAM!* "Hey, anyone check out the new iPod?"

They're trying to paint him as a house negro? Well, he's the most powerful one I've ever heard of then, that just closed Guantanamo by decree. That doesn't seem like something most house slaves can do.

And every other thing that he accomplishes, after a group of white people managed to do not much for four years, is going to be seen as another weakness in these Al Qaeda talking points.

Yeah, available abortions would do a lot of good in many overpopulated third world countries, as it has in America.

The departure of George W. Bush deprived al-Qaeda of a polarizing American leader who reliably drove recruits and donations to the terrorist group.

Bush legacy or liberal bias in the Washington Post?

noneyourbase 2009-01-25 04:35:58 PM
On a slightly related note, Obama once said he wants to visit -- and speak publicly -- in one of the Muslim capitals of the world.

I bet he chooses Istanbul. It's perfect symbolism -- the bridge between Europe and Asia, West and East. A Muslim city with considerable Christian influence, given its history.

Could be his "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall" moment, if he really wants it.

HoboSong [TotalFark] 2009-01-25 04:36:14 PM
Just give it time. It wont take very long before Obama gives them an excuse to hate him. It's inevitable. Either they hate him, or we do....and it's better them than us.

How about killing them softly with our song?

The do lots of stuff out of affection, like protecting their wimmins by keeping them covered and out of public. It's all about the love.

HMM...

Methinks this article may be a bit of conjecture. I'm not sure that the Queda's were really recruiting rational people through rational means so much as they were/are recruiting poor/desperate/uneducated/mental? people because those people have no other options.

I'm not sure if that recruitment is up or down, since we have been being attacked for a couple decades by these deucheburglars.

While I'm sure some of the more moderate terrorist types (see how silly that sounds?) may have decided to take their ball (of C4) and go home, I think things will churn on there just as they have for decades.

Eugenics means selectively sterilizing (sometimes through death) people with undesirable medical traits. Is it eugenics to want abortions available in the entire world?

Hell, I believe genetics have a lot to do with personality, but that has nothing to do with my belief in available abortions. It's the simple fact that I don't think children should be born unwanted, rich or poor, black or white, western or eastern.

That, is actually where you are mistaken. For instance, quite a number of the 9/11 hijackers grew up relatively well off and were well educated. While the Taliban in Pakistan and Afghanistan might be the poor ignorant ones, those that carry out operations in other countries are not (in general).

Generally, all of the leaders of Al Queda and other terrorist organizations are educated and from above average to uber rich income levels.

I fully agree with you, I just like occasionally bringing up the disturbing fact that margaret sanger was a proponent of eugenics

drumdaddyjb 2009-01-25 05:12:32 PM
I understand that the leadership is well off, but there aren't too many "well-off," educated (in the true sense of the word) people running around for them to recruit.

So I would imagine the target audience is still as I have described it.

And I hardly think that these well off, educated leaders have decided to lay down their arms because Bush is out (since they have been around far longer than he) nor because Obama is in. Just as I wouldn't imagine the KKK would stop being racist pricks just because the NAACP elected a white man as president.

So he's a closet muslim that is a puppet of AIPAC (the Israel lobby)? That's why we call people like you either a retard or a troll, pick one. I don't care if you don't like Obama, but at least use facts and intelligence to make your points you jackass.

verbal_jizm: That, is actually where you are mistaken. For instance, quite a number of the 9/11 hijackers grew up relatively well off and were well educated.

9/11 was a bit of an anomaly as the operation required a fair bit of flight training from the people actually dying.

Compare that to your typical terrorist act which mostly involving pressing a button to detonate your a vest/car/shoe that someone else prepared. Even your average Palin-fan can pull that off.

And yet, as I said, many of the actual perpetrators of 9/11 were well educated, not just the planners. For some sophisticated attacks, it takes fairly sophisticated people to pull them off. The less well educated people that feel they have a problem with the US the fewer that can be recruited.

From the article...

"He kills your brothers and sisters in Gaza mercilessly and without affection," an al-Qaeda spokesman declared in a grainy Internet video this month.

The torrent of hateful words is part of what terrorism experts now believe is a deliberate, even desperate, propaganda campaign against a president who appears to have gotten under al-Qaeda's skin. The departure of George W. Bush deprived al-Qaeda of a polarizing American leader who reliably drove recruits and donations to the terrorist group."

lol speaking of propaganda, can I get a link to the this grainy video? Since they shut down infovlad I haven't been able to get the latest vids and I will admit that has gotten under my skin a little bit. It is odd they do it right after Ayman al-Zawahiri's latest tape even started advocating peaceful resistance. And as for recruits who the hell joins Al-Qaeda? You are either in the database or you are not.

Have you ever read the NY Post's editorial section where people write in? They have people who write stuff that are near damn word for word to what the trolls say here. In fact, that's probably where the trolls get their posts from.

No, stupid. The talking point now is that Obama's hand was 56 nanometers above and 3.2 degrees off center from the Bible when he took the oath, so it DOESN'T COUNT! He's not president!

Oh they will - hate him that is.

Obama, like every other American politician, has no choice but to play ball with AIPAC and push the pro-Israel line. If he doesn't, AIPACs PR arm (the MSM) will go into overdrive and assassinate his character - like they did to the last president who tried to push Israel too far: Clinton. Clinton pushes and we get Lewinsky - as produced by Tripp and Goldberg. Any guesses what happened to the Israel peace process when Lewinsky blew up?

Obama will play ball, and the Arab world will end up hating him too. If he doesn't, out come the attack dogs:

Jeffrey Zucker, CEO NBC TV, Zionist
Robert Iger, CEO ABC, Zionist
Leslie Moonves, CEO CBS, grandnephew of David Ben Gurion, Zionist
Peter F. Chernin, President and COO FOX, Zionist
