Is this where the Freepers start posting about how "UNPOPULAR" Obama actually is because they live in an alternate universe where they kneel in a straight line and take turns blowing Ronald Reagan and Rush Limbaugh and chanting how Obama's approval rating is apparently dropping?

Kinda like the hypocrisy between people stating that the election had, "Absolutely NOTHING to do with race?"

...yet after the election, every newspaper printed a headline along the lines of "Happy Happy Joy-joy for all the African-Americans!!!"

/I didn't vote for McCain

Where the hell did that come from? Anyways, I'm sure we all know electing the FIRST BLACK President has something to do with race. It is a pretty big deal and the facts of his race and what it means for many people are pretty obvious.

Of course...I still think the pre-election coverage was very hypocritical, though. If anyone even hinted at race playing a part in the election, someone would yell, "GET OVER HERE," and perform a fatality.

Not sure that would be as hawt as you think. After firing out all those kids, I assume she was wearing a truss/girdle for her debates and interviews. I think even Photoshop might have a problem making that presentable

Oh yeah, TomD9938, have you read some of the posts on FreeRepublic? Comments about race and assassination are just the tip of the iceberg with those neo-con lunatics (which I assume you are a part of). Suck it.

flannelled fool 2009-01-25 05:33:45 PM
"I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy," he said. "I mean, that's a storybook, man."

There's nothing the press loves more than building someone up. Well, there is that one little thing - knocking the stuffing out of their creation. That day will come.

I'm more of a paleo-con. Assumptions are slippery things.

Ive tried Free Republic and find it pretty much unreadable due mainly to the page lay-out, but also because the comment section leaves something to be desired.

Tim Blair's site is more my style.

I also regard myself as a Farker. This isnt Kos here, no matter the trends of late.

Suck it

What do you even mean by that? I've seen that frequently here since Obama's victory.

What is it about his upcoming rule, that you think is going to somehow make my station worse?

Goodness, it's almost as if the fact that race wasn't enough of a big deal to the deciding factor in an election between a black guy and a white guy IS a big deal. But, how can that be? Either race is super important and we all vote for the person that looks like us, or it isn't important at all and we never get to talk about victories for the civil rights movement. Everybody knows that's how it works!

Now I get what you're saying about the media, but if you really think the media is an appropriate microcosm of the country Drew has a book to sell you. There's a whole hell of a lot of stupid there. They're also more likely to be sued than people who aren't on television for saying something racist. It isn't unrealistic to think they went far out of their way to try to sound like they didn't notice it.

All I remember about the media talking about race in the election season was they kept saying "race is a huge factor" while at the same time saying "race isn't the biggest factor since our economy is crap". There is some truth in both statements depending on how you think about it. Some voted for Obama cause of his race, some voted against him because of his race, and many didn't care about his race when voting but still realized that was a factor in this historic election.

But I thought the Liberal MSM was against Free-Market Capitalism? So why would they be running stories just to make money?

But wait, making money is Free-Market Capitalism's goal, so how could it be bad for the MSM to be putting Obama's picture on the covers? I mean, if putting Obama's picture on the cover sells more magazines, doesn't that mean the Free Market demands it? Wouldn't it actually be socialist nanny state rewarding of failure to put McCain or Palin's picture on instead?

The Freeper brain needs to be studied.

It's a big deal that we elected a black president, but it's a big deal because we didn't elect him FOR his race. The point is that a white man with the same message, tone and rhetorical ability would likely have won. We elected a president, who just happens to be black, and that's a big step forward.
