Going for a walk in the park is a much better way to remember your pet dog then laying down flowers at a gravestone.

I think Nixon's dog was named Checkers.

Still a horrible thing to do to a cemetery. Now where will people go to bring back zombies?

the ASCPA, IN-Humane Society and PETA do NOT care about animals, Hell those 3 Organizations kill more animals than all other organizations, hunters, and companies combined.

They even admit to it in Public, after all you have a "Rescue" the animals from their "shelters".

I'm sure that once a year, or maybe once every decade, the wind will howl, the earth will tremble, and the fountain will spray blood. People unfortunate enough to have been caught in the middle of the event during a walk in the park will be possessed by the spirits of deceased pets. Among other weird behaviors, those people will hump legs, lick their own crotches, and try to run in human-sized hamster wheels.

This is why when my dog needed to be put down I took possession of the body and buried it in the backyard. I know his body is safe as long as I live here. After that there is several large trees and zoning concerns that would need to be addressed before his bones are farked with. Pet cemeteries are for those who can't let go.

So they destroyed a pet cemetery. Who cares. I'm as big a doglover as they come, but I'm not putting my dog in a casket and having him buried in a special cemetery. There's a nice oak tree in my backyard where he will rest.

The family has instructions to sprinkle the dogs' and my ashes at our favorite Sunday napping spot by the river. I'd rather spend eternity w/ them than most ppl I know.

I bury that cats in the backyard and have the dogs cremated....it's actually been a very bad two years :(

The_Ancient: the ASCPA, IN-Humane Society and PETA do NOT care about animals, Hell those 3 Organizations kill more animals than all other organizations, hunters, and companies combined.

Keep in mind that "humane society" is used often with various organizations. The Humane Society of US is the out of wack one while there are numorous other humane society's that do decent work. Like everything else - do research before you donate.

/although nothing beats PETA for just crazy

I think about this sometimes. If I don't own a home by the time my cat dies, where will I bury her. I mean, odds are I'll own house by the time she goes, but one never can tell. Or god, what if I do own, she dies, I bury her, then end up moving? She's as important to me as anyone I know, and yes I know, that's just queer.

vodka 2009-01-25 02:46:05 PM
Shiat, I'm just gonna have the vet toss my cat in the incinerator when she dies.

Sheesh... and yes, I don't care WTF they do with my body after I'm dead. You're dead, who cares.

katerbug72 2009-01-25 03:06:50 PM
That's too bad that they did that. They could have least put an ad in the paper so people could come claim the stones if they wished. Jackasses.

So you took your dog home to bury him in your backyard where your ownership of the property/landscape itself will protect the body, however, someone who opts to have their pet buried in a place reserved for that purpose but not on their property "can't let go"?

I respect your right to grieve as you will, but I'm confused about your statement.

up2nfg 2009-01-25 03:09:24 PM
How's it going to look when you send the dog out after a tennis ball and it comes back with a dog leg? Huh?
What to do if a dog returns a week later to find a bone he buried and finds too many?
Good spot for a therapist.

They should organize and all demand a refund, thus bankrupting their local humane society.

You could have your cat cremated and scatter her ashes somewhere significant.

I wondered about that too with my cat of 11 years...then my townhouse manager found him dead and mauled and threw him in a dumpster.

You all missed the good part where they are willing to repay burial costs of $75 to $300 but admit they LOST ALL RECORDS!

This could be a cash cow (albeit a dead one) for many ex pet owners....
