If they trot out that "Obama's girls at the Lincoln Memorial / 'better be good, Dad' " story one more time, I'm going to kick in the TV.

Everyone at CNN seems to be John Madden-esque at reiterating the same anecdotes. Bleh.

kimmymedic [TotalFark] 2009-01-25 10:25:13 AM
OK everyone that complains about all the Obama coverage needs a kick in the taint. If you dont want to watch it DONT. Go outside take a walk spend time with your family. You know do something that involves your ACTUAL life.

After 8 years of no accountability I kinda like the idea of someone keeping up with what he is doing and I voted for him!

Sure he should have to be better. Because if he fails, he won't be held accountable and anyone who notices out loud will be a racist.

Race politics are a high stakes game, guys. If he wants to keep throwing out the fact that he's African-American like it means something significant about his ability to govern, then he should accept the entirety of the race game.

PoopStain: This is rich coming from someone whose dedication to criticizing all things Bush bordered on the "mental illness" side of things.

Complaining about the guy is not the same as complaing about the coverage of the guy.

Critical nuance, it's what's for dinner.

Also did you read any of the comments BESIDES mine????
LMAO thats fine I dont think you are picking on me. this is fark after all. besides it was more snark than anything. If you notice I said even though the guy I voted for won, I want him held accoutable for his actions. This is far different than the OMG you criticizing my guy borders on mental illness. At one time Bush was my guy. I became disillusioned and grew up quite a bit. No one in political office should have a free pass devoid of criticism. It leads to what we have now.

I find it amusing that even GAry couldn't find anything critical to say about my comment but others have THAT is truly amusing.

No worries. Everyone is kinda raw after political season. I just think if a politiciam can't take the criticism they shouldn't be in politics. Neither side is completely right and never will be. OH the humanity :)

Uh huh thats why your argument against me is so well thought out. If wanting to blow him includes holding him accountable then yeah sure I do. The whole Chicago thing had me wary of him. Palin did McCain in for me. I sometimes wonder what his logic was in picking her. I am proud to see him back to his old self though.

Capitalization. Punctuation. Learn them. And taking the "team mentality" toward politics - regardless of which side - is not the same as apologizing for an abusive husband. Yeesh.

That hurt to read. I think I can agree with you, but I'm not sure. It's hard to parse.

So you see, I don't have to cherry-pick your comments to form the opinion that I'd rather not have you be the one trying to figure out how to save my life. No offense.

kimmymedic [TotalFark] 2009-01-25 12:59:57 PM
Lots and lots of typing.

Contrary to what you may believe I am not offended at all. You have your opinion, I have mine. This is Fark I don't have to use proper grammar or punctuation and you can't make me :p

Actually I do think we kind of agree. I made an attempt at a joke and a few over reacted to it. Thats why I said raw...I figured the bwaaaahaaaa would highlight it as a joke.

To make it simple enough for everyone: Every politician needs oversight.
All the media attention is getting (has been) stupid because alot of it is Gossip rag style. If I have to put up with that to keep up with what else is going on so be it.

That better?

There is no real news, because nothing has actually happened yet.

He wants to close gtmo and stop beating terrorists, within a year, but there isn't a real plan to accomplish it yet.

He wants to spend more tax payer money bailing out and stimulating the economy, but there isn't a real plan to accomplish it yet

There isn't any news yet, because as anybody who's changed jobs knows, it takes more than three days to get into things, you can't just sit down on day one and make sunshine and rainbows.

Bingo - It's a product of the 24 hour news cycle that they are scrambling to keep everyone's attention riveted to the screen. There will be countless similar puff peaces and journalistic navel gazing until he actually gets into the swing of things and does something worth commenting about.

Meh--it's a slow news weekend in America. It's not like CNN is going to actually report on REAL news like the Sri Lankan civil war, PM Olmert saying that no Israeli soldier will be charged with war crimes regardless of incident, the millions without power in Europe because of a huge storm, or renewed riots in Greece. Instead they're content on broadcasting stupid stories like this & calling it "news".

At least they were willing to use the word "black" like a normal American instead of the for-public-use-only phrase "African-American". More as a lover of the English language than as someone overmuch concerned with race, the latter phrase has always struck my ears like a cudgel to the soft spot of a child. It's just so needlessly clunky, not to mention completely out of whack with what "-American" usually means (an immigrant). And everyone knows no one uses it in private.

Once again (it seems to be a blind spot for the culture), this new President, Obama, is 1/2, or considerably more, Caucasian. I'm getting tired of the Partyization of the Racialization of the Partisanization of the Profilferation of Pooh. Stop flinging the Farking Pooh, you idiots...

Get used to it.

Media race baiting is going to be in play for the better part of the next year; it's the easiest go-to deflection for actual policy coverage. Maybe we'll get a break from it when the Obamas finally choose a White House dog; that's at least a 72-hour story, and I'll bet they have graphics and music ready to go.

No research & analysis - y'know, journalism - is required to gossip or spew opinions.

It's not important - it's CNN.

"Thank you Pelosi and Obama for what we are about to receive."

Sarcastic on my part, but really think about the words below.

"You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom.

What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.

The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.

When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is about the end of any nation.

You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it."
