Yeah well maybe if that one billion revenue coming from that one county was multiplied by 58(the number of counties in CA) AND all that revenue was taxed, California would have no problems making ends meet.

These people know that since Obama is now in charge, no one is really going to care much about them growing this crap and selling it to our kids.
The violence level marijuana has brought has reached incredible levels and the dealers and other criminals are counting their blessings that the democrats have gutted the war on drugs.

When America elects a spineless diety like the obama administration, we get the drug addled kids and violent marijuana kingpins it deserves.

I'm sorry, I thought medical marijuana was 'legal' in ALL of California, not just select counties.

My mistake, guess I'll shut the fark up now.

You should try jumping down off your high horse and looking at it from an economical view. How can you ignore the profits that sustain the economy over in that county? Moreover, have you any proof that the crime in that county is any higher than anywhere else in the U.S? It is people like you who have hampered the economical growth that this potential cash crop could be providing us with - not to mention the medical/textile/culinary benefits.

I don't dally much in the politics tab b/c hearing things that actually matter being discussed like that gets me down. They can't all be trolling, and I hear enough ignorance and intolerance IRL to deal with that.

1 point - great trollish username
2 points - "spineless diety", marijuana kingpins, use of violence and marijuana in close proximity more than once

Now, you could have said something like "marijuana attacks families by helpless addiction and insanity" and it would at least been poetic.

I must applaud your troll, however, as you hook-line-sinkered about 8 or nine people just on the point-out alone. Stay consistent with your act and we'll see how you do.

Seriously? Okay, I'll bite. I won't rate based on potential trolling abilities because your statement is so over the top stupid that I believe you really think that way (can't make this stuff up). With legalization you get regulation and taxation. And I'm not just talking about in drug form (think hemp). We're talking "billions" in incoming taxes for the government to squander... er, utilize. The most detrimental effect would be a shortage on snack foods at your local convenience store. If you are absolutely unable to see what I am talking about, well then you can continue to wonder why people look at you sideways when you choose to speak your mind.

olddinosaur 2009-01-24 06:21:26 PM
Jesus H. Christ on a moped, how freaking naive can you Farkers all really be?

Marijuana is illegal for a reason, and that reason has nothing to do with protecting the public; if anything the reverse is true.

People will not obey a government just out of respect for its superior wisdom; they must be provided with an enemy, and be made to live in terror and in fear, or else they will not sacrifice either their money or their liberty in order to obtain psysical safety.

The threat must be credible, the enemy must be strong. A bunch of stoned hippies laying around saying: "wow, groovy, far out man!" is really not much of a threat, unless you want one to do a little work once in a while.

But if you get a bunch of big drug gangs running around blasting one another over large amounts of money---that puts a whole new spin on it! Now we need more cops, more guns, more laws, more prisons---and when it doesn't work any better than it did last year . . . more of the same, of course!

It is irrelevant whether marijuana is harmful or not; too many parasites are making a good living off of it, and I am not talking about the people who produce it and sell it!

Take away the subsidy, and all these useless people would have to go out and actually work for a living, anyone think that would ever really happen?

Better teach your drug-sniffing dog to herd sheep while I'm at it. Hate to see poor bowser starve.

hillarymom44: growing this crap and selling it to our kids.

Reason #1 why it should be legal: If it's legal, those who sell it can be required to check ID.

The violence level marijuana has brought has reached incredible levels

...and reason #2: when's the last time you heard about someone getting shot over cigarettes or booze (you know, the "legal" drugs)

1. I laughed. Heartily.
2. I then thought about how ridiculously strict the laws are in most of the rest of the country, then became jealous.
3. I then thought about where they are. That's gotta be good soil, because wine country's not too far from there.
4. I'm now thinking about some form of hybrid between marijuana plants and pinot noir grapes. I'm well aware of how highly unlikely this would be, but the thought alone is amusing enough.
